This Makes Me Proud!

Yes, and that is a good thing.  But despite my local community "encouraging" recycling and being the home of one of the world's foremost polymer science institutes, they will not recycle many of the packaging materials used by Festool for their accessories, e.g. copy ring for a router.  The problem lies in the lack of USA recognized or standardized labeling of the polymer types used.  My local community (Akron, OH) recycling center only takes PETE and HDPE types of plastics and only if they are labeled using the USA standard triangle symbols with the number inside of the triangle.  So, in the real world, there remain many significant gaps and disconnects in the communications chains that need to exist for recycling to be hiighly effective.

I note that German automobile companies have long been very involved in recycling and plan for such when they components of their vehicles are being made.  All of the plastic components of my 1993 BMW are prominently labeled with the type of plastic as well as the source and date of manufacture.

USA has a long way to go in regard to recycling.
