I searched and didn't find anything related to the Titan TS40 HVLP.
Anyone here have history with this model? I recently picked one up
at a yard sale and it looks like it was never used, not a drop of paint
on it anywhere. The woman selling it said she didn't know anything
about it other than it was about 10 years old and it belonged to her
husband who passed away last year. She was asking $100 and I felt
it was worth a chance so I bought it.
Looking it over the flexible pickup tube in the paint cup is cracked like
it is dried out from age. I'm guessing this is something that can be easily
replaced as it seems like a consumable part to me and probably something
that is more or less universal between many make guns so should be available.
I have no experience with spraying or HVLP sprayers, any finishing I have
done in the past has been either spray bombs for non-critical finishes or by
brush or wipe on for other projects. I am a hobbyist and not into woodworking
for profit or a side business.
So is this a decent sprayer that can handle most of the finishes I am likely to
encounter. I found a PDF copy of the manual online and also found Titans'
website but there was little information about this model and they seem to
have nothing as far as parts for their older equipment listed. Can I find what I
need for this sprayer at a local paint store (not a big box store) that caters to
pros? Did I make a bad move buying this thing. I wonder since it appears this
person never used it or maybe did and had problems with it but other than some
dust it looks like its new just sitting around for a few years. Everything else appears
to be OK, the turbine runs and I don't hear anything that would give me concern as
to a loose or damaged part. If this has been sitting for this long is there anything on
the turbine itself that might need attention before I put it to use. The filter is clean,
again looking like it was never used.
