I was reading a post on here where a guy bought a load of Festool gear after owning a TS55 and Domino for a while. Short version is that he sent all the new gear back (OF1010, Carvex, CT26, RO150 and MFT/3 ) having decided it was overpriced. He kept the Domino and TS55 and then went on to post something along the lines of everyone being deluded paying Festool prices. It's a good job we're all different. I'm very careful how I spend my money and don't exclusively purchase Festool but two of the tools he sent back (the CT26 and RO150) would make my Festool top 3 tools.

So the question is, what are your top 3?

Mine:

TS55
CT26
RO150

CMS-TS55
CMS-OF1400
MFT3

Are my most used ones and Domino DF500 would be a good runner-up if only tools are counted.

Andy,
I have a few contractor friends who also think I'm crazy for buying such expensive tools. They use mostly DeWalt, Milwaukee, Rigid, etc.  Sure, you can bang a nail in with a rock, but I would prefer to use a hammer...and, I prefer a well made hammer that has a good balance in my hands.

Yes, with each purchase of a Festool product I feel some finacial pain.  When the pain wears off and I'm digging into the tool, I'm usually happy that I bought it.

My three favorites are:
1. Domino XL
2. Kapex Miter Station
3. Any Sander w/ CT26

A couple weeks ago, I put out a similar thread asking for member's opinions of their Top Five Festool and Non-Festool Tools.  Maybe, you'll find this helpful. I did. I found some new and useful tools for my shop.

I know the posts you mention however I highly doubt he has purchased the tools he says he has let alone the ones he didn't. The whole purpose of his posts seem to be aimed at winding people up, nothing more or less.

This is a really nice thread but boy is it difficult to narrow things down....

My top 3 Festool tools are the ones that I am using today, the ones I have used in the past and the ones that I will use in the future !

As far as sheer engineering excellence my top 3 are: DF 700 Domino, OF 2200 Router and the Conturo Edgebander. The BHC 18 is a very close fourth. I do not have nor could give justice to the Conturo but it is a beautifully well engineered piece of kit.

As far as my style of woodwork goes (mainly cabinet making boxes, desks and tables) my most useful tools are: Domino 500, Kapex and CT26.

My most used tools are: TS55 with rails and Parf Dogs, DF 500, Kapex 120.

The three tools that I enjoy using the most are: DF 700, CMS-TS and Rotex 150.

Having tested the BHC 18 and the PDC 18/4 I am now determined to get some cordless drills and will start with the CXS and C15. I am now a complete Centrotec convert having used it for the first time during the PDC 18/4 review.

Mine so far are easy, since I only OWN three:

TS75
OF1010
Domino

I'm working on making this a harder question to answer...

[big grin]

The two tools that work unlike any other i own or have owned are:
1) DF500 Domino - absolutely changed the way I think about woodworking.
2) TS55

Those two are an easy call.
For a third it gets tough, as if I add the ETS150, which make the task so sanding so much easier, I'd need to have my CT26 (or any CT) to go with it. I can get away with using any standard shop vac with the TS55 and DF500, as they just need wide open dust extraction, but the ETS really shines in conjunction with the CT on low suction.

It may seem trivial, but I use my Festool Sys-Toolbox all the time. It houses all my MFT clamps in one side, and marking measuring stuff in the other, my hearing protection, glue and marking knife stay in there as well. And it locks to the top of any of my systainers.

And then there is the MFT/3 - which is the backbone of much of the work I've been doing lately - large crosscutting, splinter free dimensioning, assembly....

OMG, I need more caffeine before I post! I forgot about my poor RO90! Now I don't know which should be left off the list?!

1.Ts55req
2.Carvex
3.Domino 500
Those are my top 3.They are probably the three tools I use the most. I have festool item's that i use just not every day.
There isn't a festool tool that I have bought yet that wasn't better built or made me more efficient.

Being a kitchen fitter I'd have to list 4 essential tools!

Carvex
OF2200
Kapex
TS55

and of course my CTL ...oops that's 5 now sorry [embarassed]

At the moment... because I still will be taking delivery of stuff over the next two months....

1. Festool Vacu-Clamping system (NAINA) They NEED to bring this unit to the States and Canada. It is simply awesome! [tongue]
2. CXS Drill (Beautiful design and oh so functional!)
3. PSC420 Carvex (which I have used extensively already)

I suspect that the BHC will be moving into the top 3, but I haven't actually received it yet.

Cheers,

Frank

My 3 favorites are:

1. Domino XL 700
2. Any Sander w/ CT26 (ETS 150/3, RO 90, RO150, RTS 400) I managed to squeak more favorites in!
3. Kapex

Really hard to narrow it down but...

My favorites are:

- MFT/ and TS 75 (I know it's two but they work as one)
- DF 500 Domino
- OF 1400

Phew, 3 favourites is hard to narrow down.

I'm going with 4 in no particular order, because these 4 are my most used and wouldn't want to leave one of them out.

T15
RO150
DTS400
CTL Mini
