Train Bed

Kid #2 is due in a few weeks, so it was time to get my son out of his crib and into a bed. 

Bought an HO scale model, took some calipers to it and started planning.

End product is about 400 lbs, modular (comes apart with allen keys), and has working headlights.  I have interior LED strip lighting ready to go in, but have to pick up some protective diffusers before installing it.  It fits a twin mattress, so he can take it to college if he wants.

When I started this project I only had a TS-55. 
Then bought the new Carvex. 
Then it just made sense to get a CT. 
Might as well get a sander while I'm at it, to get the package deal.
Maybe two sanders.
CXS looks great.
Now I need a centrotec installers kit.
Then I bought a Domino for the hell of it. ;D

Awesome project! 

I love that you shot it with a Leica M.  I just picked up a ME - what a great camera.  What lens did you use...noticed some vignetting in the pics.

It’s semi modular.  90% of it comes apart with a 4mm allen key, the rest is GRK cabinet screws.  I did the final painting in place, so I’d need to cut the seams with a utility knife before disassembly.

I love that you shot it with a Leica M.  I just picked up a ME - what a great camera.  What lens did you use...noticed some vignetting in the pics.

The indoor shots were with a Zeiss ZM 18mm f4, coded as a 21 2.8 ASPH. Out door shot with my son was a 21 Summilux @ 1.4, Studio shot was a 50 Summilux. My other hobby is photography and I’m a Leica junky.  I used to have an M9, but now have the M and a Monochrom.

There are some interesting compound angles in the front of the "bed".
Are they mitered or butted and filled?
