Kid #2 is due in a few weeks, so it was time to get my son out of his crib and into a bed.

Bought an HO scale model, took some calipers to it and started planning.

End product is about 400 lbs, modular (comes apart with allen keys), and has working headlights.  I have interior LED strip lighting ready to go in, but have to pick up some protective diffusers before installing it.  It fits a twin mattress, so he can take it to college if he wants.

When I started this project I only had a TS-55.
Then bought the new Carvex.
Then it just made sense to get a CT.
Might as well get a sander while I'm at it, to get the package deal.
Maybe two sanders.
CXS looks great.
Now I need a centrotec installers kit.
Then I bought a Domino for the hell of it. ;D

Well done.  Great design...except he needs a train whistle for it.   ;D

You're in all sorts of trouble if he stops liking trains and want a plane [wink]

Agree with the whistle.. needs a built in alarm clock to wakes to a train whistle sound.

Excellent work.

Awesome project!

I love that you shot it with a Leica M.  I just picked up a ME - what a great camera.  What lens did you use...noticed some vignetting in the pics.

Looks great Ryan and great photo's too.  Congrat's on all the new tools!

Hey those aren't halogen or xenon headlights are they?

Chris...

Thanks for the comments everyone!

That's a stunning piece of work  [big grin] Did you fix it in place or is it movable
?

It’s semi modular.  90% of it comes apart with a 4mm allen key, the rest is GRK cabinet screws.  I did the final painting in place, so I’d need to cut the seams with a utility knife before disassembly.

That's one lucky kid....nice "hairdo" too!
Tim

He got his haircut that day, and the kids can pick out a colour spray for free  :)

I’ll swap out the CP decals for Air Canada and we’ll call it a plane  [big grin]

The indoor shots were with a Zeiss ZM 18mm f4, coded as a 21 2.8 ASPH. Out door shot with my son was a 21 Summilux @ 1.4, Studio shot was a 50 Summilux. My other hobby is photography and I’m a Leica junky.  I used to have an M9, but now have the M and a Monochrom.

They’re LED, wanted to avoid a heat source.

I was wondering why those photos looked significantly better than most.

There are some interesting compound angles in the front of the "bed".
Are they mitered or butted and filled?
