Oooh-wee that smell.  The inboard side of the kerf is getting burned (1/2" birch plywd).  How do I eliminate this?

Even though the toe-out may or may not need adjustment, that shouldn't be leading to significant burning. The more likely cause is a blade problem. At a minimum, clean the blade, but check if it's dull. Then inspect the toe adjustment.

For reasons for burning please see,
Supplimentary Manual page - 24.

You might also want to check adjustment of Guide Rail Cams, page 7.
And blade selection, page 10.

This is a great tool, hope it soon gives you satisfaction.

Thank you for the quick replies and guidance.  The problem is remedied:  After going thru the Supplemental Manual, I got all the way to pg. 26 or so and that's where the toe-in instructions came up.  I made the toe-in correction after discovering that my saw had exactly the opposite setting -- toe-out.  It now cuts like "butter."  Wow, what a tool and no more man-handling of sheet goods.

Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Yes, toe out would certainly cause burning.

I Guess I'm pretty thick because I can't find anything about adjusting blade toe in the supplemental manual for my TS 55

I a sure that Rick will visit and give better instructions than I will, but if you have a TS-55 EQ then go to page 12 of the supplemental manual and when you loosen the bolts you will need to kick the are end of the saw away from the rail by a smidge.  In class we were told a business card thickness would be enough.
