Upgrade TS75 blade or buy TS55?

I'm looking at buying the fine tooth blade for my TS75.  I get some splintering on some cuts and I wanted to try a blade with more teeth.  I'm hearing the TS saws will be on sale next month (potentially 10% off).  What's making this decision tougher is the fact I will be buying the new 55" LR32 rail.  Should I buy a TS55 and get the LR32 blade or should I just buy the TS75 blade and 55" LR32 rail separately?  If indeed the sale is 10% off, the TS55 would cost me roughly $250 out of pocket since I was going to upgrade the TS75 blade (approximately $100) and get the new rail (approximately $95) anyway.  What would you do?  Of course, I can apply the $250 to another Festool toy.

this is not an easy question to answer.

because ultimately only you can tell what is right for your long term applications.

i always try to think ahead. when i get my builders licence in 1 year i will need bigger and heavier tools. that is how i justified buying the ts-75.
i also use it as a tablesaw with the cms.
it is worth having the ts-75 for this reason alone.
the cms is not available in your neck of the woods, but it will be eventually.......

so if you do eventually have the ts-75 in the cms, then you will need the ts-55 for cutting sheet goods......

Id just upgrade the Ts75 blade, if you own the saw already theres no reason you need 2, i have a Ts75 and have the 54tooth blade and without the splinter guard i still get sharp, crisp, splinter free cuts!! But only you know what you need !!

Good luck, tough call

NVA,

Rumors about promotions are unsubstantiated  at this time.  If I remember correctly in the middle of February you posted about several tools that you wanted to add to your collection this year.  The TS-55 wasn't one of those.  My advice is buy the blade.  Do you have a current need for the new 55 inch LR 32 rail?  If so, buy it.  New blade for the TS-75 - buy it.  Put the money not spent into a CT-22 in the future.

Just my 2.1 cents worth.

Peter

Thanks all for the info.  I think I'll just get the 52 tooth blade and the new 55" LR32 rail.  I'll be buying the 1010 and the 1400 with the LR32 kit.  My next home project will require a significant number of bookcases and I feel the LR32 kit will help me out.  I am tired of getting tearout with current jig I use for holes.  I will also use the LR32 kit to help me build some extra workbenches so I can use the MFT accessories.

On the vacuum front, I will be buying the CT33.  I think the extra size will help.  That vacuum will be used around the shop (aka garage) and I'll keep my Fein stationary next to my 2 MFTs.  I made a poor man's boom arm for my tables, so it works for now.

Once again, thanks for the info.  I'm still willing to hear from others.
