Does anyone know of an American made 4x17x20mm domino style tenon? I may need one for a product that I want to promote as American Made with all American made parts, I have emailed Cincinnati Dowel to see if they can make that size in the tuffer tenon, just did it today so I dont expect a response until after Jan 1.

just thought i'd ask here,

You will need to make them yourself or have them made.

If there were anyone making the "copy Domino tenon" ,and AFIK nobody is, it would be against the rules governing this board to provide any information about them.

Forum members may not conduct market research, market, sell, or conduct product development for products that compete with products or services offered by Festool or other Tooltechnic Systems subsidiaries. Posts of this nature will be removed immediately.

The irony is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

You'd have to rip 4mm strips on the left side of the blade.  Rockler makes a little stop block thing that mounts in the left miter track just for this type of thing.

I don't see why? This board is now owned, run & managed by Festool. Why would they encourage direct competition on their own forum?

There are other places to do that talkfestool is one.

Are you even sure that the Domino tenon is patented? Looks like a pretty generic design to me. Furthermore, I don't see anything in your quote of the rules that would prohibit talking about other people's products. Talking about something is not the same as marketing it.

You are the first to mention a patent.

I didn't and neither does the quote.

within reason it is, though the grooving and pattern are not generic

That is a point that you would have to refer to Shane as the final authority on the subject.

To me the request for a commercial copy of a festool product is clearly against the spirit of the rule.

Other people's products are talked about. However Festool has an absolute right to decide what is and is not OK

There are loads of posts pn here where folk have made there own dominos
True and there is, I think, guidance on how to do it. Or at least how it has been done.

But that is a bit different from asking for a commercial copy as the OP did.

Shane / Festool seem to have a reasonable and relaxed attitude and that is one of the reasons why this board is so productive.
But it is now corporately owned so some of the topics that used to be OK aren't now.

Shane sent me a message the other day regarding the tenons.  There are other (or was) commercial entities that are manufacturing the wooden tenons.  There isn't an issue with them.

Cincinnati Dowel replied that they do not have the tooling for 4x20's, may just have to make my own or change to use the tuffer tenon 5x
