I am planning to replace my Elu 177/2 (Dewalt 645) with an OF2200 and I was wondering if it can be used with the LR32. The local (Aust) Festool site has an Application Guide "Drilling Holes Using A 32 Mm System – OF 2200" but when you open it there is no mention of the OF2200. All reference is to the OF1400 which I understand would not be able to plunge the 35mm cutter thru the dust extractor shroud. I have other small routers but no DC on any of them and the dust from the 177 has steered me to a 2200. I rang Festool but all I have been able to get is "he's busy, he will ring you back". I hope one of you have tried this and can enlighten me.

The base plate of the LR-32 is set up for the 1010 and the 1400.  I have no idea if the base of the 2200 would even fit size wise and then the mounting plate would need modification.  It would be severe overkill power wise and based on the height of the 2200 could be uncomfortable to use for an extended period.

2200 is a pretty heavy router to be used for 5mm pin holes. Id get the 1010. I use it for 90% of my freehand routing. The other 10% is because I dont have a 1/4 or 8mm bit with that particular profile

The 1400 works great, just be careful when bringing the router bit back up into the dust shroud that you don't bring it too far otherwise it will rub.

Go with the 1400, that way you can make your own MFT tops using the Festool 20mm bit.
