Using the MFT/3 to cut stock thinner than the "stop ruler"

Hi,
I need to cut some pieces of 6mm (1/4") and 12.5mm (1/2") sheet goods goods on my new acquired MFT/3.  What is the "proper" procedure for this?  I haven't been able to find any demo or instructions that illustrate this use on the MFT/3.  Does one move the stop ruler so that the FS-1080 guide rail doesn't rest on it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS - Has anyone seen a reference as to location where the feather keys are installed by the factory, i.e. how far inward they are installed from an edge?

I'm sure there will be many answers.  Yes move the guide as long as the piece you are cutting is large enough to be safely supported.

Are your pieces long enough to allow you to slide the fence past the guiderail as you suggested?  If so, that is the easiest method.    Otherwise you could put some sacrificial material either on top of your workpiece and below the guiderail to make up the difference.  That might be less hassle than putting something under the workpiece itself.

The feather keys are installed at the factory using a jig.  It doesn't matter really where they are set as long as they allow the quiderail to be fairly close to perpendicular to the front and rear extrusions.  The squaring to the guiderail is done using the adjustments on the protractor head.  Now if you are using a modified "dog" setup then that changes.

Thanks Don T and Peter!  I've looked at just about every setup and use video out there - all were good but surprisingly none that I found illustrated this operation.  I guess the bulk of wood cut is 1/2" or thicker!
