Using the MFT for a door hanging station ?

I also used to use the magic grippers, but now use my MFTC.  This allows me to raise the door edge to a more comfortable height.

Carpenters in Australia are all taught to make a door clamp out of 4 x 2 with a knotch out and a wedge,quick easy and made from work site scrap,next time i am hanging doors i will make one and post a pic.

If you are caught without a clamp and need to recess door hinges with your trusty hammer and chisel,put the door on edge and  back one end of the door into a corner and then straddle it while you chisel the waste.Hope that makes sense. [smile]

Why do you all want to buy something to help do doors, surely a peice of timber 6" x 2" with a notch cut say 40mm wide and 60mm deep out so the door sits in it and cut a wedge to fit between the door and the notch you just cut. This will clam the door and make a firm place to cut hinges or door lock.
Total cost should 5/8 of FA leaving the money to spend on some more Festool gear.

I agree it is probably an uneccessary item  i hung many doors over several years using just the 2 x 4 scap timber  method.

I bought the triton work stands to use with my drop saw and they have the added benefit of doing double duty as a door clamp.

I have had the ox tools clamp for a year or so which i bought on special a tool store sale day. It saves time making a stand but could esily be replaced with something made from scrap.
My problem over the years was throwing out the one i made or losing the wedge so therefore i was making a new one all the time.

If you do make one with a notch out one side needs to be angled to accept and hold the wedge,parallel sides dont grip the door well enough!

Rockwell Jaw Stand. They also have Jaw Stand XP that provides a lift for exact positioning. This can aid in door height or cabinet height adjustment.

Hi I am new to this I am a Festool fan I also use the magic gripper and it will be sold in the US looks like home depot will be the first to stock it. They are calling it the Door Docker Plus . I also like the new uk version Pro gripper all very simple and compact.

As i work out of a car, anything i carry has to have more than one purpose. So i just use a pair of bessey clamps on each end of the door fitted in opposite directions.
Something i first saw years ago on The new yankee workshop.

I set the door on a couple of  systainers and clamp it to the MFT.

I use the bike peg solution, drilled a hole in the leg and bolted it through.
