On our MFT/3`s, we have both the V-groove and the channel for our clamping elements. We can use the channel for custom jigs using flange bolts and the like. It would be cool we had a v-groove element that we could build jigs off of. A couple of bolt/screw holes in it and maybe make it be able fold down to 3/4 (ish) of an inch below the MFT/3 top, so the jig could be built upon or up right to attach jigs to it.

It just seems to me that the v-groove is under utilized.

I know it doesn't really fulfill your desire, Harry, but the table extensions for the Kapex add some utility.

I never understood the V-Groove and thought the only thing it did was make the table more proprietary to Festool(which I did not think was a good thing). We were promised all kinds of fancy jigs for it and I never saw that come about.

It seems the new fence could easily have worked with the old slot with little mod. A few use the new fence with the old table(me).
I never liked the idea of the V-groove because of making jigs etc and any jigs one did have would have to be remade. I love all my original 1080 tables  and feel they offer more versatility than the V groove table(Mft3).

I will keep my 1080's forever.

I don't have any of the new MFT/3s, so I'm not sure how you are attaching the new fence to your old tables.  Any pictures?  Details?

The bracket, clamp and screw off the new kapex extensions would seem to be ideal for this. When you get the new extensions, the parts will (should) be available for order as spares. It may even be possible to order them now, though you would have to wait for them to come from Germany.

I don't have time now, but I'll post some pics & get you some part numbers later today.

That was exactly what I thought, when I ordered them in the beginning of May, I'm still waiting.  My dealer warned me that it could take a while before it was delivered.
You can find the partnumbers in the Festool EKAT-catalogue.

EKAT - new Kapex extension go to "Sliding compound mitre saw" -> "Accessories" -> "497352 - Trimming attachment KA-UG-R"

Three words:
C-M-S
[sad]

My CS70 also has the v-groove and it has 4 parts that fit in it: a table extension, a table widener, the cross fence and the angular unit. I think Festool is just trying to be universal with this v-groove on all their tables like the MFT, CMS and Precisio. It's not Festool's fault America won't accept products that are perfectly normal here in Europe out of silly and unreasonable  'safety concerns'.

Can anyone in the US get that stuff?

If it is not available in the US  it does not exist.(At least for anyone living here).

It has nothing to do with America and everything to do with Festool not wanting to sell it here.

I'll keep my 1080's and be happy with the ease a jig can be made to work with them.

Thanks for your pictures, Greg, but what I wanted was to see how Nick modified the new fence to fit our old MFT tables.
