VAC SYS DISCONTINUED?

Quick PSA for anyone still waiting on some units.

I just took delivery today of a VAC SYS SE1 with manufacturing date 2022/01.

So there is hope there that they crammed in another run for anyone who is still waiting…
There has been the odd appearance in online shops here in Germany and I took my chance. Paid out, apparently. :)

I have been able to kludge parts together from various sources (thanks to this thread), but the one thing I can't find is the foot pedal.  I know I don't *need* one, but I'd prefer one if possible.  Any suggestions on a vendor that might actually have one in-stock?  I'm in the US.

So far, I have received the Excel 5 pump on Tuesday, two SE2s from Beaver Industrial today and two of the round cups are on their way from Highland sometime next week.  I also got a bunch of quick connects and clamps per suggestions here as well.

Incidentally, I believe Highland may have one more of the round cups available for anyone looking.  They didn't show up on the website -- I had to call to order.

Thanks to all who have contributed!

too bad youre not in canada, im sending my extra foot pedal and hose back to LV
i didnt know the se1 comes with both

maybe check LV i think they still showed stock few days ago

My Lee Valley pump order now shows expected arrival 3/4/22. I'll wait on ordering the Excel pump until I get definitive word from LV.

No luck, but they do show an expected date of April 14th.  I put my e-mail address in for notification.  Fingers crossed they actually get some in!

I received my quick connect fittings yesterday after 2 months of waiting:

I'm waiting on some new ear clamps to put them on. Prevost is the manufacturer of the Festool fittings. It took what I consider an unreasonable amount of digging to track these down but I wasn't willing to pay Festool prices for a re-badged fitting on principle.

I'll save the long winded story of what I had to do to get these imported to the US from a French company. If anyone wants to follow my lead the process should go much smoother now that they're in the Prevost USA system (although they aren't a stocked item and will still require a lead time from France). The distributor I ordered from was Air-power USA https://www.airpower-usa.com/

PV ERG 071809VALV
PV ERP 076808P2
PV ERP 076152P2

All in I paid ~$126. You could also go a different route as has been mentioned in this thread. I just wanted OEM fittings. Those push fit valves are $50 or more each from Festool.

The cost isn't bad, compatible fittings for McMaster are around $16 each iirc and lately their shipping cost has escalated, they wanted $30 to UPS some fasteners about 50 miles.

I may upgrade my setup whenever I get around to incorporating the second head. Thanks Matt.

Have you tried Festool service in Lebanon?

These are the McMaster fittings I used, the 3/8 barb was a bugger to get into the stock hose. Heat is your friend.

FWIW Matt...as you know, I purchased my fittings from Festool service, the group of fittings you show would total $357 from Festool service.  [smile]

I just got a notification that my SE1 that I have ordered last week is on the way and will be here tomorrow. I got it from FestoolNirvana.com and when I did it listed fulfillment time as June.
I called them and it really is on the way!
They have received a large shipment from Festool much earlier than expected.

Call Chip from FestoolNirvana if you need an SE1 unit, he may have a few more in stock. The website still shows that it's not available.https://www.festoolnirvana.com/pages/about-us

I think there may be a typo in the list, the part number for the quick connect is ERG 071808

These really shouldn't be so hard to track down, Festool charge stupid money for them and the actual description in EKAT is the actual Prevost part number.

I also want to use all original fittings if possible but via Festool UK charge wayyyyyyy too much.

Rowse Pneumatics stock the ERP 076808P2  for the grand sum of £1.75 each, including the ear clamp, the ERP 076152P2 are £2.10, they do not seem to stock the main quick connect ERG 071808

The search goes on ...

Regards

Dale

Hi Dale,

Prevost makes different versions of the quick connect. Last 2 digits of the partnumber give the inner diameter of the tubing to connect to.
If my research is correct, the Festool system used 9mm inner diameter.

I also ordered some Prevost fittings, ERG 071809, they should be here next week… (20€/part incl. male counter fitting & hose clamps. )

Yep. Wasn't a typo. I believe Festool switched to 9mm I.D.  on their tubing somewhere along the way. Either 8mm or 9mm would be fine with Oetiker clamps.

Ahh, the reason I thought it was a typo, the EKAT description is:

FESTOOL SPARE PART 494574 Hose coupling ERG 071 808

Really do want to find these over here!!

I need 8 of everything and at Festool prices would be just short of £660  [eek]

Festool has changed out various parts over the years...probably for a number of reasons including cost reduction and better performance.  [smile]

Here's a photo of a section of old hose, circa 2015 LH and the new hose circa 2021 RH.

And below that photo is a list of the various factory combinations I have on my units. A mixture of 8mm & 9mm stems on various parts.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] Thank you for sharing that. Reinforces my decision to get the 9mm barb on my QD's. But again, the 8mm is fine as well.

One other thing to note Matt is the increased size of the reinforcing filament (2mm x 2.8mm versus 1mm) inside the newer tubing, means that once you place the tubing over the stem you will not be able to remove it unless you cut it off.

With the older tubing and the smaller diameter reinforcing filament, when forced over the stem it could also be removed without damaging the tubing. Now it has to be cut off.

I have a question with Veneer pump (Excel 5).

My unit stalls when I try to start the pump for first time every morning. I start the pump with Valve closed at '0' pressure.

To make it run properly, I need to start the pump with valve open, then manually close it in order for pump to skip stalling and build up pressure.

I seems to be okay when I start the pump again within few mins, it stalls for 1/2 second and builds up pressure.
But leaving it for more than few minutes and starting the pump makes it stall again.

Is this normal for all vacuum pump?
