Here you go Kreg !

Well this project is not going to win an award for break through project of the year.  But the story behind this project is as followed .....

My boss asked if I would build inventory cabinets for the company.  We are scheduled to add bar codes to the inventory this year.  At the time we have a lot

of plastic bins we use to hold the inventory.  With the bins stacked onto of one another, it can make it a little difficult to get to a item under another bin.

The boss did a search for us to improve our inventory storage.  He was not happy with the products available and the price tags that went with them.

He had the idea for me to build something.  He called me into his office, asked me to draw something up and put a price on it.

I come up with this design.  Presented him with the price and he wanted me to make two of the cabinets.

I used  5/8"  cdx plywood.  At $28 a sheet.  And some cheap $7 drawer slides.  $1.50 handles.  1/4" plywood that was at the

shop already.  So around $250 a cabinet.

The project price was well into his budget for corporate to okay it.  After my boss seen the cabinets, he pulled out his phone, sent a picture off to corporate.

He later informed me that "the big boss" was very happy with the system and gave my boss and I the green light to build them when we need them.

I built them in my garage shop.  So as payment for using my tools, I was able to buy myself a nice amount of plywood for my personal use.  Which will

come in handy when I revamp my shop this spring.

In the 4th picture you can see the blue bins that we used.  This was the way we kept the inventory.  We still have a lot of blue bins.  Which means

I have a lot more cabinets to build in the future.  The plan is for me to build 2 to 4 cabinets about every 3 months.

Sorry for rambling on.

Thanks Tim,  I forgot to mention that I get paid by the hour.  So on top of receiving free sheets of plywood, I was also making my hourly wage.

The sheet that I bought for myself were $49 a sheet and I bought 4 of them.  [wink]

Plus, I got to work from home  [big grin]

Well, welcome to the FOG!  Once you are right side up, I am sure we would love to see some work.

Thanks peter. I have watched most of your vids and have made your domino jig but I haven't got round to using it jet. Just bought the df 700 and looking forward to using it on a project. Have had the df 500 for over a year now and I love it.

You're welcome!  The other Peter's videos (Peter Parfitt) are very informative and fabulous IMHO.  [big grin]

I just can't believe that out of the 5,000 views on this that their are only 67 responses, and less pictures of work you have done...So lets get some pictures up here to share with everybody !  even if you have just built a bird house, post it, (well as long as it is festool green) lol

we all enjoy and are here to share and help each other to improve every day and learn ever day.. so get busy !!!!!!!

Hi,

I am a hobbyist and own a few Festool tools. After work I hit my basement shop to build some furniture for friends and personal use. Here are some pictures of my latests projects.
Since I starte woodworking only 6 month ago don't expect too much. (Usually I sit in front a computer 8h a day, I am an electronic designer for custom integrated circuits, ASICS)

Unfortunately I do not have any picture of the building process.

A cabinet for our bathroom and some trays, make good presents for friends etc...

Before

After.  This gate turned out real nice. Still looks the same
a couple of years later.
Thanks Festool.

Mark.. love the dovetails !  you need to be proud and thanks for sharing we all love... it..

I've been busy reconfiguring my shop to install a Oneida 3hp V-System for dust control for my table saw, jointer and planer but here is a picture of two nightstands I finished a while back where I cut all of the joints with my Domino 500 joiner.  These small cabinets are made from Honduras Mahogany except for the side and back panels which is 18mm African Mahoany Ply.  The door is mounted with Brusso hinges and stopped with a Brusso spring loaded catch and a raised bottom panel.

Here is a picture of some of the detail joints cut with my Domino Joiner.

Really nice job on those two matching cabinets.

can you show any photos of the hinges / doors open?

thanks
