[size=14pt]Rebuilding an Old Batten Door.
[size=12pt]
Tools - RO150, T55, C15, CT22, D500 and Beasley Clamps.

Materials - T&G Baltic Pine, Diggers Paint Remover, 3M Type 3 Disposable Mask, Granet (40 - 180 Grit), Domino (5mm), Titebond 11, Brushes, Velspar Black (Exterior), Old Can Timber colour *,  and Gate T Hinges.

Old Batten Door on external laundry was suffering from rot. Nearly a century of paint layers were removed with paint stripper and by sanding, door dismantled, rotten boards removed and replaced with new Boltic Pine. Some TG removed with T55 to allow new to join with old boards and rejoined using Dominos. Z Frame also rejoined with dominos. Door also resized/edged by T55 and Rail.

Reassembled Door finished with Valspar Black inside and Timber Color * at front. Old Lockwood dead latch lock rebuilt and installed.

* Mysterious old can found and used by Ms Untidy.

Looks really good...but wouldn't it have been easier to just build a new one?

Yep!  [smile]

[size=12pt]But I was a little sentimental and wanted to keep some of the old and certainly keep somewhat a 'weathered/battered' look.

Thanks for the response.

Thought I'd share a house I just finished remodeling.  The exterior was remodeled over the last 5 years and I just wrapped up the interior over the last 6 months.  This way a complete gut all the way down to the studs and I built it back up again.  Couldn't have done it this well without my festool gear.

This project also has the chunk of nana wall that i build from parts sourced from this board, thanks!

A co-worker and I were "volunteered" to build our manager a new office. We did pretty good for a couple of old farts.
