What are you getting before the price increase?

Nothing - don't need anything presently, and the price increases are so immaterial it's not worth stockpiling or trying to guess future needs.
It's all a bit late night teleshopping "limited stock", "lock that price in early" type trashy sales technique IMO, and I'd be inclined to shop with retailers who don't jump on the bandwagon, and try to feather their own nest and disproportionately push the point under the veil of public service and "just making people aware of the price rises".

These are regular tools that's have been around for years! Why should there be a price increase year on year? In fact as years roll by every product drops in price, and it's not like earth shattering technology.. most of technology have been around for years! So why should there be a price increase?
Can you guys charge 10% more than what you charged for a job last year? In fact you end up charging less..

I also refuse to be coerced into buying things under the “threat” of a price increase. While every company uses yearly holidays as sales the only sale or promo we see from festool is to tell us to

Businesses can always charge what they want and increase their prices as much as they want whenever they want. However, to me, a successful company that sells pricey products choosing to have a price increase at this particular time, when things are not so good for so many, makes me less inclined to buy now or after the price increase.

I try to explain away the price increases by rationalizing it as the "falling dollar." I am a firm believer that the quality of living, speaking just for those in the United States, has dropped precipitously over the last few decades but that our diminished purchasing power has been obscured by the onslaught of cheap Chinese products. Go try to buy a made in U.S.A. Baldor bench grinder, or Lie-Nielsen plane, and you'll see what I mean. I'm not surprised to pay 10x for a made in U.S.A. product, which is also why I spend most of my time hunting Craigslist for vintage machinery.
That said, the exchange rate data between DM and USD would seem to disagree with me. Over the last five years, the value of the DM to USD has been pretty constant:https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=DEM&to=USD&view=5Y
So chalk this up to standard cost of living increases, right?
I'm not complaining. I can always go to a big box store and get a similarly functional made-in-China product for 1/3 the cost. But I do wish that Festool would reduce their absolutely absurd pricing on accessories that should come standard on that 3x priced product (want a larger base for the OF1400 - oh, that'll be $90) and instead reward their dealers with more margin on base product. And reward retailers that know their stuff. Local to me, Festool has noticably expanded their retail footprint into stores like Benjamin Moore and Dunn Lumber but sadly they know almost zero about the product line.

Got my order done and it’s on the way, I also learned something. Maybe most of you already know this , or not.
I called on the link at a Festool Dealer in Canada for 201311. They told me that they couldn’t ship from Canada to the US. When I spoke to them earlier today their Sales person told me I could and it would convert the currency etc but when I placed the order it said one/more items couldn’t be shipped to my address?
I called them and when I spoke to their IT person and explained what Sales had told me she said they probably didn’t know?
Anyway, I called my regular dealer in Ma and got the order placed.
Not sure why the negativity about Festools pricing/marketing etc, for me personally either purchase or not, it’s a choice. I think I’m like most of us meaning they make very nice but pricey tools. I make the choice to purchase. Good luck to all, whatever your choices are or aren’t
