What Festool Did You buy Today?

I gave an old Ridgid 12 gallon "5hp" vac to my daughter this summer and replaced it with a CT15 today.

After owning a CT Mini, CT26 & now CT15, I find the CT15 a good-value deal for me since it's used as a stationary, by-the-bench shop vac. I do have four other shop vacs (including a Ridgid 16 Gal. 5 HP vac) in the shop, two of which used with a Dust Deputy/auto switch setup.

Well in the last few days I purchased the TS 55 Track Saw, CT 36 Dust Extractor, DF 500 Domino and the ETS ECX 125/2 Random Orbital Sander. These are the first Festool items in my shop.

Last week picked up the AGC18 set and this last Saturday bought the Vecturo set. Nice tools and helping to make my floor remodel easier.

so ya got moved and making the house yers Cool buddy looking fwd for fotos

Just received the Shinex from the latest Recon sale. Purchased at 35% off.

My first impression before I even opened the package was this thing is really light...it weighs nothing at all, and thats a good thing.  [smile]

My second impression was how small it is and what great shape it's in. It looks brand new except for a couple of very small marks.
It's not much larger than a Vecturo.

Two more items of interest, it's still made in Germany...at least it was back in 2015.  [eek]

A very nice touch is this series of numbers and speeds mounted on the label. Speed setting 1 = 600 RPM, Speed setting 2 = 900 RPM and so it goes.

Another nice feature is that if the speed is set to, for example #5 = 1275 RPM, the speed is still variable from 600-1275 by use of the trigger switch which is very easy to modulate, it reminds me of the trigger switch on Festool drills. Very linear, smooth and easy to operate unlike those found on Milwaukee drills.

I got the Planex and the CTM 26 E AC vac today. Well, not really mine, but I get to play with it. And my guys.

We used to have a crappy hobbyist sander of the brand Hyundai. Cost 150 euro. It was heavy and difficult to control. The Planex on the other hand is a breeze, so light and controllable in comparison.

Surprisingly, dust control of the Hyundai was very good, it had a build in fan which blew the dust in a dust bag, and it was very effective. But the problem was you had to carry that heavy dust bag around, and build quality was very bad. I had to tape both ends of the hose the first moment I used it. Fresh out of the box, it wouldn't even stay on. And I started to find screws all over the place and the machine started to rattle quite a bit.

So I talked my client into buying a Planex with a vac instead. Found a used one on marktplaats. Total cost with all needed accessories around 1400 euro. It was brought on by our courier yesterday and I had a brief check this morning. No time to use it for real yet, too much other things to do. But it is just so light and easy to work with, and controllable, it is amazing.

Only downside is, when we're done, I have to sell it off again. Upside is, I'll probably get 1500 for it, so we've done our entire project with a first class tool for free. In comparison, the 150 euro for the Hyundai sander is just gone.

I like how you can take a section out of the Planex to make it smaller. One moment you're sanding the ceiling, the next you can work inside a tiny space like a toilet.

What it replaces.

I've been monitoring Festoolrecon.com and finally purchased a DF 500 Q domino this morning. I am very excited to use this tool. I intend to purchase a CT 15 dust extractor and an RO 90 Rotex.

Brand new to the forum, and brand new to Festool. I thought I should join here after taking the plunge. I ended up with an ETS EC 150 Sander and a CT26 Vac. I’m super impressed! More for me in the hopefully not so distant future.

You Americans can have it. Don't let it come this way.  [tongue]

I don't understand the not available in or out of the NA reasoning. I would think it would cost more to have products dedicated to a region instead of products available everywhere.

Anywho, if the Shaper counts I picked it up almost two weeks ago and today I was in a bind and needed a router capable of 1/2" I looked at the Makita, Bosch, and Festool. I really liked the 2200 but I wasn't sure I used one enough to justify that kind of price. I do have some slab wood to level but it doesn't need much in the way of leveling so I opted for the OF1400, the last one they had. My Amana bit is 1.5" with a .5" shank so it should work just fine. Now I have to finish a few projects to make the cash to make sure the purchases are justified!

Added a new T18 to go with the one I have for the past while, a newer EL 850 EB to replace my time served Festo EL 850 E, an EL 65, a Rotex RO90, a HKC 55 to spare my TS from the rougher work, a new ETS 125 to replace a pretty worn out one, a TiD18 and a pile of systainers and 3 sys-cart's.  Also the full connector set for the D500 domino, a Surfix kit, another D700/Max domino systainer with 3 trays to load up with longer sipo rods, a load of Granat and Rubin in various grits, another D36 hose to 'upgrade' one of the midi's and a BT kit for my CT26.  And a few more 5.2Ah batteries and a couple of chargers, a set of centrotec augers, a systainer powerhub, LR32 rail and a few others bits and pieces.  Oh, a pair of KAL's also for convenience, as the DUO is a bit cumbersome for many jobs.

My wife would not be pleased, but I'm happy for now, at least until she finds out.  [laughing]
