What Festool Did You buy Today?

I  virtually window-shopped for a bandsaw mill. And lamented over the non purchase of a new of1010 or 1400... I need to get on a FT 10 step program.

Thats what Don told me as long as they were L ion.

In reality it doesnt matter as I have 2 18v that will do the trick lemme call him and double check.

Don was at lunch .

So I talked to Allan Kensley.

Allan said yes they will work.

A 12v will work on my 18 v impact, but the 18 v battery wont work on my C12. Small volt batteries will work going up like 1v2 -18v tools but not going down 18v-12v.

Not to go too far off track in the topic but ...............  Yes, the 12v will run the impact. I tried it with 1.5aH 12v. It has noticeably less power and speed though. Still will do the job if not getting into bigger screw sizes.

There is at least one exception to the smaller battery running bigger tools thing. Doesn't work for the TSC55 (maybe HKC too).  TSC55 needs at least 4.0 aH.  Amp hour has more to do with it than voltage. I have used 15v 5.2 with no trouble. But 3.1 18v won't do it.

I don't know if this is true with the newest tools but you can / could run LiOn tools on the old NiCd batteries too. I used to have some 12v NiCd that I used on my LiOn C12.

I've run the HKC on a 15V 4.2 & a 3.0 battery. It's not exactly a powerhouse but in a pinch...

I've also run the TSC on a single 15V 3.0 battery. A lot of times I'll grab a 18V 5.2 and pair it with the 15V 3.0.

OK, so 3.0 will do the HKC.  And at least one that is greater than 3.0 is needed for the TSC.

Good to know.

Just ordered KS 120 today. [cool]
Still deciding which table saw to go for - TKS80, TKS80, or TKS80 [embarassed]

Look at the CT15. Same thing just stripped down. Less money.  👍

No AS hose. The hose alone will plug the price difference if bought separately in addition to the CT15.

The newer tools have current short-circuit protection to save the Lithium batteries. I guess even on the newer ones the NiCd batteries will still work. It's just that there probably are no real good *original* NiCd batteries around anymore. I re-did one in 2013; it still has some power. But the self-discharge and the weight. I replaced the TDK 15,6 with a Bosch GSR 18V-60C... saved ~750 gram I think.

I looked into getting a Rotex 150... but could not find 'new old stock'. I dont want the new Ugly different-height Systainer3 as it would be the sole outlier and wont stack nicely with anything to get a consistent height.

That's a big downgrade compared to the older Systainers if you want to store 80x133. From six stacks to five stacks. A whole Systainer for five stacks of sandpaper... I am already lacking slots with the six stacks I have in the classic Systainer storage for 80x133 for the RTS. No way I would have bought it with that new inlay.

Also the stacks of DTS sheets even more sticking together with the new version.

More so up against $65-70 incl. tax.
I passed..

Micro SYS is great for some small stuff though, I’ve both the new SYS3 XXS and the old.
At $5-7 I make my own inserts instead  [wink]

This I bought recently, ready made by Festool dealer.
How cute is that  [big grin]
(And a micro bevel is more handy than one might think in the first place)

Pencil for size reference.

Yes, they are identical, Axminster do/did also carry just the tools.
In the micro SYS they are €26 - €32 + tax. The plane is 32.
Not too bad considering the inlays as well. And the tools them selves are very uasable.

I just pulled the trigger on a DTS400 REQ, it's associated sandpaper set, and a HSK&hose - but not any rectangular Granat.  Ran out of money there and wasn't too sure I'd burn through that many papers just by hand-sanding.  Instead, I'm going to grab a protector pad and some Mirka abranet 3x5 singles at my local dealer.

After this all, I came to realize I hate the sandpaper industry :)
