What Festool Did You buy Today?

Well that would make my credit card melt !
The OF2200 is one of the 3 best machines that Festool have ever conceived (alongside the Domino and Centuro). At one point, having sold a lot of my old (pre Festool era) kit, I only had the OF2200 and no other router. Despite its size the machine is so gentle and easy to handle. My wife had an old travelling clock movement without a case and so I turned it a baby mantelpiece clock doing all of the work with the router hand-held.

The hole for the clock face was made with the router using a home made mini trammel. Te tray next to the clock also had some OF2200 input and is just big enough for 2 small mugs of tea.

First impressions are it's a well built machine, hefty but very controllable given its weight - no regrets yet.

Even before the fixed price system was abandoned I was able to get deals because the price fixing was only on tools and not accessories. So, when I bought my first Domino I managed to get a good discount on the domino assortment and the Trim Stop. I also got an extra hose at about half price when I bought my CTL26.
If you have fixed prices in the US try for a deal on the extras.

As Peter says, no fixed pricing here in the UK. Seems strange and uncomfortable not saying 'in the EU' anymore. The prices are not that far out from each other and you have to mix and match suppliers if you are getting a few tools as the deals are sporadic across dealers. That said I don't mind paying a little more sometimes as some dealers are better than others, Nuts & Bolts mentioned up there for instance are not always the best price but they are one of the better dealers, not to say there aren't others as well like everywhere else.Crazyraceguy said:
Yup, eye watering prices for spindle tooling, I've built up quite a lot of tooling to date (mostly CMT and Omas) but I'm going to invest in a decent Maggi-Steff power feed and do another of Peter Sefton's superb refresher courses before I start using it in anger and in full operation. If they are not "fixed" does that mean you can work one dealer against another? Or get discounts based on volume? Like buying multiple tools or tools and a CT at once?
Here that gets you nothing. The price in the printed catalog is the same no matter where you buy it. Not even Amazon sells lower than that fixed price.
With local dealers, if you buy enough at one time, you can get some discounts on "other brands" in the same purchase. But that tends to be a wallet draining thing.
In my particular case, I got quite a deal on the big Bessey Clamps that show in my pics because I spent 10k at one shot. That only happens once in a lifetime and only because of insurance from a total loss.
It was almost all Festool and Bessey with a few other things like a Triton router for table mounting and a Kreg stop/measuring system for my mitersaw station. I have added more since that one-day purchase, but that was the core stuff to get me going again.

very helpful as usual. turn out it was out of stock so they got onto festool the same day and ordered one. the folks at wendligen are saying 5 to 7 days till it arives, sooooo.............. i'll just have to wait.
but i cant think of another company that would place an order just for one coustumer (afik) when they have a product out of stock.

Warren is a great guy. Ive met him when I lived in the UK. He is really customer focused and gives (the best he can ) US style customer service.
