What Festool Did You buy Today?

A second holey 1400 rail, effectively filling my go-bag of rails.

Which bag do you have?

I also bought my 2nd holey 1400 recently, but I have the old style Festool guiderail bag, the one with the separate pocket for a 800 rail. Doubt I can fit 3 rails in there. (Also have non-holey 1400)

I have the Makita bag. It's fitting the two 1400s and an 800 with TSO connectors in the pocket.

New rubber feet for my MFT tables. I wore through my first set moving my table around the shop so much. I guess 8-9 years on the first set is not too bad.

Rotex RO 90 - my first Festool. I'll be using it for stripping 2k ureathane and epoxy from bathtubs. I'm hoping to use it for leveling out the primer coat as well. Used it for about 10 minutes today and am sold on another.

[member=75021]pdxrealtor[/member] - You may already know this but for the contours of a bathtub an interface pad (497481) or two may really come in handy. I don’t think that they make the extra soft backing pad for the RO 90 but the interface pads can be stacked on top of each other to create a great contour. If you use them just be super careful when you pull them off as they can tear easily and they are too pricey for that.

Not today, but earlier this week.... I ordered the wrong hose end...

Festool 204822... but that one has a permanent (?) bypass. Great...

I guess for the oldstyle D27 hose I need the 202346?  [huh]

Ha, I am amazed to see they made this. Another sign they closely watch this forum.

And I can't understand why Festool keeps doing everything that has to do with vacuum cleaners wrong.

PERMANENT bypass ... really? For the small sanders, ok, but how about when you're doing clean up or have a saw attached or a router? Then you want maximum suction. So you can't have this nozzle installed on your hose. Who uses his vac only with one type of tool?

Why oh why didn't they make the nozzle with an adjustable ring like plenty of other vacuum cleaner brands do? Twist it one way, the valve opens, twist it the other, it closes? I'm baffled.

I really don't know if it's permanent that is why I put the questionmark there. The description from Festool NL is absolute b*llcr*p.

Look at this;https://www.festool.nl/accessoires/204822---d27-bp-asct#Overzicht
It translates to something like;
"for all sanders to improving guiding, especially recommended for RTS 400, RTSC ...etc."
[huh]

In the German catalog the description is "für alle Schleifmaschinen zur Verbesserung des Führungsverhaltens" which if I'm not mistaken translates to: "for all sander to improve leadership behaviour"

I just looked up a D27 hose end, assumed the description was garbage on the sellers website and ordered it. It's still in the mail, but I came across the hose end I actually need and it had a different number from what I remembered, and I looked at what I ordered... the wrong thing.

Only some English language description actually make sense.

It looks to be longer than the normal hose end, so I guess I'm gonna ship it back (for a 5 bucks lost).

For sanding I put the CTL at minimum suction to get rid of the pad sticking to the surface. Maybe they invented this hose end to be used with the CTL sys that can't be nerfed? I dunno. Either way, the descriptions suck.

"For all sanders, to improve handling. Especially on/with RTS 400, RTSC 400, DTS 400, DTSC 400, ETS 125, ETSC 125 and RO 90 models."

And actually the German site is pretty specific:

"Functions:

Prevents sander from sticking to smooth surfaces."

The official translation on the co.uk. site reads:

"for improved control of all sanders, especially recommended for RTS 400, RTSC 400, DTS 400, DTSC 400, ETS 125, ETSC 125 and RO 90"

"Functions
- prevents sticking on smooth surfaces"

Personally I think that's pretty clear. Never trust dealer's website - one way or another, always verify with festool.de or festool.co.uk if unsure. You can even clearly read "Bypass" in the official picture.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Yes, but I had to fill the online basket like four times, because every time I was a way for like half an hour I had to start over. So I added the hose end without looking too close and I didn't notice the "BP" in the title instead of "DM".

Thank you! I did not know this. To be honest I decided to slow down om the accessories because .... They add up quick. It's a great idea though. So far the medium pad has been working but we've only used it a couple times.

Picked up a like new OF 1400 with I think every accessory except the rail adapter. There was little dust on the router but the accessories look unused - some still in packages.

I only played around with this a bit but really like it. Not only excellent dust collection but also the ergonomics are different than most routers and I like it.

Two minor things I don't like:

1) No adjustment for guide bushing - mine is not 100% centered (have read this has been an issue since 2007). Thinking about making a P-C bushing base plate to correct this.

2) Idle (no load) speed. Every other router I have you can hear almost a linear speed difference dialing from #1 to #X. This router has a very high speed at #1 and does not seem to change speed until around 3.5 on the dial. Did some digging here and contacted Festool and this is normal for this router. When you put it under load it will slow down quite a bit on #1 and progressively speed up as it is dialed up. Must be something unique about the electronics on this router.

Bought a TS 55 and and a standard blade for it. The corded version. 2x FS 1400 for portability.

The 80mm polishing backing pad blue foam pad medium fine with polishing paste

Tried polishing scratched and hard used stainless steel for recycling to other uses.

Started with Granat 180 then moved on to 240 screen on the ro 150, the 320 g switch over to platinum 1000 and 2000 on the R0 90 with the 80mm backing pad and then moved to the  blue foam and paste. After this treatment The stainless steel looked like new. I'll get the orange foam pad with paste and eliminate the platinum stages. I'm doing maintenance on elevator control panels and button panels where I could start at 240 or 320, 500 and then switch to the polishing pads and paste.

[member=23193]PreferrablyWood[/member] is that on the RO90? Or one of the 77mm sanders?

I used the RO 90 with the 80mm pad that's meant to be used with the foam pads that also are used with the Shinex 80. I used the screen abrasives on the R0 150 they are not available for the RO 90 but work great on stainless and brass og copper. There's very high grit granat that work more like a polisher, and then the platinum 1000 and 2000 pads that polish more than sand for the RO 90.

I will use the Ro 90 with 240 + grits for metal and with 80mm backing pad and foam pads  on the old buildings elevators door call buttons and panels kicks etc. I'm the custodian of.  It's kind of scruffy looking right now. Winter time pastime to shine things up!
