What Festool Did You buy Today?

I usually buy tools when I know I'll have projects for their use. This Domino connectors kit is an exception; I have no immediate needs for any knock-down projects.
...

I’m looking to purchase some connectors as well.  Debating if I’ll go with the kit or get the pieces that I need in the near term and a SYS3 M89 for storage.

RustE, Never knew that option existed. How much cheaper would be it be to go that route?

I don't have the LR 30 system, but I can find a way to drill those holes if need be. I found that any regular bit holder can be used to screw the hardware, not just the Festool bit holder, which I don't own.

FWIW Chuck, here's a list of the individual components and their part numbers. All are available separately.  [smile]

If I remember correctly the 15 mm drill bit and oilite stop are about $60 while the drill guide is about $75.

Not sure it’s going to be any cheaper. Thinking to not have pieces around that might never get used.

203164 Drilling Template - $78
203165 Hinge Cutter - $57
203166 KV D8 Connectors (50) - $115
204854 SYS3 M89 Organizer - $80

Total of $330 versus $385 for the 203170 D8 Kit.

Thanks Cheese & RustE.

The price difference indeed is negligible.

I'll share my first Domino knock-down project when I finish one. I'm starting on a new build which has been budgeted for 4 - 6 weeks, so it'll be a while before any ready-to-assemble piece will be identified and attempted.

My last knock-down project was made for storage purposes (image). I'm hoping to use the Domino connectors for a furniture piece.

I bought my first Festool tool today. I bought the Festool 1010 router from Lee Valley. The first time i owned a plunge router although i have been woodworking for over 50 years. I think i made a good purchase since i've had a big Porter Cable in a table for over 20 years and i have a trim router so this 1010 should be a good fit and become my go to router.

I have a Milwaukee 18 volt combo drill set but have been eying that little CXS. Heard a lot of good things about it. In fact i attempted to order one but it is a scarce item here in Canada right now.

It's not clear if Ultimate Tools has any stock as it allows to you preorder as well as buy it now online: https://www.ultimatetools.ca/produc...-drill-set-576099?_pos=3&_sid=f8797c8f7&_ss=r

A call to them will have the answer. Free shipping, too, I think.
No Ultimate is out. The only one showing one in stock is Elite Tools and they show only 1 so whether they have it or not is questionable and for the money i don't want the demo. I already ordered one from someone else and was put on back order and i had to email them to cancel because i don't want to be on someones back order list. The first one who gets them back in stock will get my sale and most send out flyers via emails when they
get stock. I got a Parf Guide coming from Axminster in the UK to make my MFT table too right now so i'm not in hurry for the CXS. 😃

I just received the data sheet for the Wessel TK 286 Turbo Head. This thing (I have the Festool version) works really, really well, I'm astounded.

I detached the Miele electric vac head and placed this on the Miele instead. I'd have to say this $59 turbo head works as well as or possibly even better than the electric Miele SEB 236 head for $259.

From the Wessel data sheet.
"Thanks to the new geometry, TK 286 is ideally suited for the use with low-output/energy-saving vacuum cleaners. This turbo brush features an effective turbine-driven brush even when matched with low airflow."

Have you used it on concrete floors?  Do the brushes reach the floor, and do they provide any benefit?

My only complaint about my aluminum Festool nozzle is that there is some dust (drywall, for example) that really clings to the floor and needs some sort of friction to get loose. But I don't like to leave the bristles on my nozzle low enough to scrub the floor because it tends to push stuff around without actually picking it up.

If that thing will scrub up the dust that doesn't want to come up with just airflow, it would be well worth the $59 to me.

I tried my darndest to find a deal on the UG cart and wings for the Kapex. Nothing turned up so ordered from Hartville Tool via Amazon. At least the 5% rewards offsets the sales tax. They shipped it overnight on Monday and it arrived yesterday afternoon. Can't beat that.

It's a really nice setup. I went metric figuring if I need absolute precision I'll be using metric anyway.

My tiny 12x16 shop required some late night re-arranging to shoe horn the UG cart and left wing into a spot where I could leave them setup. In the middle of all that I just stood back and thought I've got a serious addiction as I tried to cram all these expensive tools into such a small space. Before I started adding things up I decided it was best to go to bed instead.  [eek]

I confirmed they had inventory on Wednesday, ordered it on Wednesday and received it on Friday.  [big grin]

Must be a US thing receiving it a day late  [tongue]

Anyway; hmm, I get a totally different brush when I look up 203809.

Was this the one you imagined getting;?

It seems they switched products while keeping the same number. Ugh.

The UG cart and wings are really nice to work with. Considering it also is very portable. But yeah, it does claim it’s square footage..

- Expensive tools in cramped space?.. your definitely not alone.. I got scared the other day about the value (as for a non professional) in my room [eek] Must update the insurance!
But, looking at dedicated machinery, Festool tools and add-ons are bargains. This calms me a bit, and I’m having a good time using it all, that’s worth a lot.

Today I got a luck I didn’t foresee, a pre-owned MFT/3 with accessories AND a VL-MFT/3 with a saw module showed up, less than 15min away from me. Picking it all up on Friday [smile]
Now my new space to come only need a pack of 2m Festool extrusions to make a very nice compact shop.

Thanks for the Turbo nozzle digging [member=44099]Cheese[/member] - I’ll see if I can get hold of an Wessel-Werk version, I can (maybe [blink]) live without the green plastic (I do have the correct RAL spray can at hand in green.. [big grin]) Funny enough, I just destroyed a Nilfisk version of the same, with a heat gun... the connecting tube was thick, solid and stubborn, the rest was not [big grin] [big grin]

The TS75 showed up today. US Tool and Fastener came through. I ordered it over the weekend and just before noon, there it is. It was actually "signature required" too, which I do appreciate. Since it was coming to a commercial address, it's not as important, but it keeps the driver from leaving it for the porch-pirates on residential deliveries though.

This head is different in that the Miele heads that I'm familiar with raise or lower a pair of wheels on the rear of the head for height adjustment. There is no manual adjustment per se on this head. The front and rear wheels are in a permanent position and the beater bar floats up & down instead.

The 1st/2nd photo is a textured rubber fatigue mat that's had aluminum shavings dropped on it from a Milwaukee cutoff saw. A single forward pass with the turbo head shows the result.

[attachimg=1]

[attachimg=2]

The 3rd/4th photo shows cat litter on a vinyl floor. Again, a single pass through with the turbo head. I should note that I used a tapered 22/27 mm hose hooked up to the turbo head. Not exactly the optimum combination. The straight 36 mm hose would have been a better choice...I just got lazy.  [smile]

I know...it's very confusing. The turbo head that you show is actually 450644, the previous Festool model. If you google the new head, 203809, various sites will still show the older model with the newer part number.
