I don't understand the not available in or out of the NA reasoning. I would think it would cost more to have products dedicated to a region instead of products available everywhere.

1 - If your products are in region A and you need to ship them to region B, it costs money to do so. For a company that's only viable if you expect a certain volume of sales in return.

2 - America insists on using 110v and the imperial system altough they're both less beneficial than the alternatives. It costs a lot of extra money to redesign tools for America's specific needs.

I'm fully with you on that Alex. I would love to see it change here, on both, but at this point it would be very expensive to change the voltage. Even if the swap to 220v itself cost nothing, the tools/equipment that would have to be replaced is staggering. Some of the medium duty equipment is dual voltage and could simply be rewired. Cordless hand tools would just need new chargers, but the rest? I have literally thousands of dollars worth of tools that would be obsolete.
There has been empty talk about switching to metric measurements since I was in Elementary school in the 60s. It has crept in slowly and quietly so that many don't even think about it anymore.

But none of that explains the dozens (if not hundreds) of Festool items, that are not electrical in any way, which can't be sold here. There is nothing on this end that would make them illegal to own/use if you could get them here.
Don't want to market them here? fine, just don't stop sellers in Europe from shipping them to someone who is willing to pay it.

And I agree with you on those points. Stopping open trade is a very bad thing and there is no other reason for it than greed.

The domino 500 is AU$ 1750. That is US$ 1274

Hello,
I just bought a defect OF 1400 router for a few bucks. Probably needs a new armature (ordered).
The machine was highly used and shows some wear. I wanted to try to mount it on a router table, but the 2 holes under the sole which seems fine to mount on a router plate are somewhat too big for M6 (6mm) bolts. M6 bolts are about 5.9 mm and the holes are 6.13 mm... Any idea ?
I noticed also that the center ring of the router was "somewhat" machined (the 2 screws also).

Retapping them to 1/4 inch would be my solution. Or if that doesn’t work a bit larger.

I think there's supposed to be a thread insert in there.  Im sure I've seen a post on the FOG about someone having the insert fall out.

they're called helicoil thread inserts.

yes it doesnt fit, the M6 bolt is floating (and M7 doesnt fit)

ok, there is no insert for me it is straight aluminium from the sole.
I have helicoil threads I will try if the 6mm one does fit.

Biggest tools shopping spree in my life today. Bought 5 Festools, a PS300. CTL 26, C15 and two TS55 REBQ's. And a bunch of other tools. All used, except for a brand new Senco drywall gun. This is a great tool, built so much better than the DeWalt we already had, and also better than the Festool DWC. Also two hammer drills, a few cordless drills and a MultiMaster. More to add tough.

I'm not just buying for myself, but for a starting construction company. We're building 8 appartments right now, and a sub contractor who worked on two of them with a crew of 5 turned out to be unreliable, so the boss lady cancelled the contract. He pulled out his guys and his tools. Funny thing, we had new guys in a day, but new tools is gonna take a bit longer. Spend 12 hours today to pick up two lots. Most of the powertools covered now, but still a lot of handtools to go.

No, for our own crew. First we had a subcontractor doing the work for us, but now we're hiring our own crew directly.

So I checked for an Helicoil and a M6 helicoil doesnt fit.
The drill bits for the helicoil are 0.3 mm bigger than the thread size (so 6.3 mm for M6).
But at least I can drill both holes to fit an M6 helicoil.

I purchased a RAP 150 about a month ago from Festoolrecon for 35% off. I ordered bits & pieces for it and finally received everything so I can finally put it to bed. So...the Equinox finally gets buffed out next week.  [smile]
