What Festool Did You buy Today?

@GaryA I have a very old Kapex 120, but have been thinking the KSC60 would be very handy, how have you found it? Any beefs with any aspect of it?
I love the 60, as a mobile carpenter I have to carry it around a lot so the 120 was always going to be too big. The only thing I dislike is the dust collection bag. It is totally useless.

That's good to know thanks. I need to lug the saw around more than I like and the 120 gets a little cumbersome at times.

I did buy a smaller dual mode Virutex a while back for lugging around but that turned out to be a garbage saw, so the 60 has been in mind for a while, especially being cordless.

I am in Madrid for a week and went to Comercial Pazos and purchased a Festool MB 40-Set. Seems very cool, it will be a while before I get home to the US and can try it out.

The only thing that surprised me a bit was the systainer insert includes places to store several things not included in the kit. Some of this makes sense like different Chucks , but on the right hand side they show some things that look the adapters for LR-32 kit and an extra spring. Any suggestions? See attached picture from the lid insert.

Then, of course, there is the 170 page manual that comes with it, that has ten pages of diagrams, and six pages of instructions in ~26 languages. Basically 16 of 170 pages that are useful. Festool could do so much better in this area.

It’s the bit cassettes placed in sideways

Todays arrival, after getting, 2 really small washers, and 2 screws in a box a bout 1/3 the size on saturday

I think they size the box on the sticker and the 'packed by' card....

And I forgot to mention the free paper packing they stuffed to fill the rest of the box up.

Seriously, hold my sh*t till everything is at the warehouse and send it in 1 box.
Everything ive received from them in the last week could have fit in an envelope.

@Crispy That's hilarious!

Reminds me of the project I was hired for years back, we used to order Sun Solaris software licenses which were just a sheet of A4 paper. But they came in a carton bigger than a ream of paper. And if we ordered 25 licenses, we got 25 cartons!

Efficiency at it's best!

^ There are times you just want to ask people wtf were they ( if they were ) thinking?

I remember seeing a picture on the interwebs some 15-18 yrs ago when i worked in IT at the local council.
It was a dell part in a box something akin to a deck of cards - possibly ram or something, all wrapped up on a full size shipping pallet, so 1.2m x 1.2m
The blurb was something like who ever was packing the order was having a bad day and was probably peeved off.

I purchased an ETSC2 125 from the local Woodcraft store today. Well actually, I just paid for it ahead of time to avoid the Trump Tariff being levied tomorrow. Called them up, gave them a card number and I'll be picking up the sander either Saturday or Sunday.

I'm really interested in the details of this new sander as I was one of the first folks to attach a 150 mm pad to the ETS EC 125 sander back in September 2015...just thinking about it... that reflection does go back a few years. 😲

One of the first moves will be to attach the 150 mm pad to the new sander and see how well it works. It'll also be interesting to notice if there is a discernible difference in material removal between a 3.0 mm orbit and a 3.5 mm orbit.

Let us know how the pad swap works out.

There's a baggie of pins. MHM has a pretty in depth usage/review of the thing. Note that you shouldn't get too happy thinking it's a replacement for the LR-32 rails though, as it's rather sloppy and just meant for short strips of holes.

@woodferret

Thanks, nice video. I agree that it's not a replacement for the LR-32, but nice for drilling a few holes. I measured the pin 4.85mm. I wonder why they didn't make it a little larger.

Purchased a new Floor Cleaning Kit with the shiny bits and 36mm hose from Hartville’s eBay store. Great deal and was unused. I repurposed that hose to run between my Kapex and a midi below the miter saw station. Works great!

Thanks for your input on this one Peter... 🙏 🙏 ...I've been busy all day wiring 120V and 240V circuits through the garage and haven't taken the opportunity to check into the FOG like I usually do. On another note, I don't necessarily enjoy installing electrical wiring, especially 12 gage stuff, but the reality is that the present going rate for the installation of electrical service is astronomical. The electrical service plan I came up with is pretty slick, a "White" service and a "Gray" service both in the same box with an "Ivory" 240V service in an additional box. Easy to recognize and easy to make a decision on what to plug in where. I've used this same system in the basement shop for the last 20+ years and it works well. I'll post some details and updates on my garage post when this wiring project gets further along.
