What Festool did you get for Christmas?

I got a splitting maul - guess which one...

I wouldn't call it Festool but I probably wouldn't have known about it otherwise and I'd put them in a similar class. I love it!

I had a splitting maul that was adequate several years ago. I found the head for that old one with a broken handle and fixed it with a new handle. It worked OK. Unfortunately, it got stolen along with almost everything I'd ever owned.

I've been using a normal, single-blade axe ever since.

This new one is a serious technology upgrade.

Festool Apron and CT wings, thanks to Tom at Tool Home for taking good care of my Mom, err, Santa!

Non Festool was the new Kreg Foreman, and add on bits and a big box of screws. Fun stuff!

I had a green Christmas which is pretty unusual in Buffalo to begin with but the brighter green stuff was pretty sweet. My Festool compatible wife teamed up with Uncle Bob and I wound up with a DF500, the domino assortment systainer, a CT Mini, wings, and clamps.
I have a pretty long build list that she's adding to so things will be getting a workout.

I just got my first Festools! I'm a true newbie.

I just got...

- TS 55 REQ Plunge Cut Saw
- CT26 Dust Extractor

I'm also getting these when they are in stock:

- 55" FS 1400/2 LR32 Hole Drilling Guide Rail (Thinking ahead)
- Guide Rail Accessory Kit

[big grin] I've wanted these for a loooooooong time.

Festool compatible wife...amazing...love that!  I have a Festool compatible girlfriend right now and so far, she's passed one stage with the purchase of a T18+3, but we'll see how well she does in the Domino and CMS router table stages.

Welcome to the addiction!  Did you ask your dealer to switch out the 55" rail that came with your TS55 REQ for the 55" 1400 holy rail?  It SHOULD be a free exchange.

Also, LR32 kit is cool,  but it's EXPENSIVE.  I would invest in a MFT/3 before I bought a LR32, which is exactly what i did...lol.  My GF bought me a LR32 system for our anniversary, but I asked to have a T18+3 drill instead.

ETS 150, a bunch of 6 inch sanding paper, the 3000mm rail and the black plastic thingy that goes on the rail to stop the hose from chaffing on it.

Story time! :) The only place in Norway to buy Festool from is at a store called Motek. They're the only retailer, so they jack the prices up, and if you buy a lot, you get a discount. I believe Norway is the most expensive country to buy Festool in, if you're buying at the retail prices.

So for a long time, I was thinking that if I was going to buy festool, it would be from Denmark. It's relatively short trip, being that I live in Oslo. But then I investigated further. I'm 17  and I work in a company called AF Group. AF is the third largest civil engineering and construction company in Norway. I haven't seen a single festool tool until recently, so I spoke with the guys at work if they knew if they could help me get some festool equipment at discounted prices. They told me I would need me to speak with some people higher up in the ranks and have them buy it for me, so they just told me buy from Denmark to avoid the hassle.

Then the Norwegian krone sank in value relative to the Danish krone. The danish krone was 28% more expensive than the Norwegian krone at the moment I was going to place an order, so I backed out.

A year ago, my father and I had made an account with Motek, and because my father has his own firm, we were able to get 18% after some negotiation. This however, was still more expensive than Denmark after shipping+VAT. Motek assured me this was the best discount they were able to provide. But I decided to try again, so I called Motek and told them I worked in AF, and I had two friends that actually work in Motek. I were able to get a discount at 35%. I was so happy.

So I decided to go big! [big grin] I bought the Rotex 150 with handle and various brilliant grits (they didn't have granat paper), Domino 500 (they don't sell the 700 version) with accesories, a CTL26 with 36mm vacuum set, two quick-clamps and an MFT replacement top. My mother helped pay 50% of the Rotex as a christmas gift, the rest I paid with my pay from AF.

When I was about to leave, they asked me: "Do you want this?", and pointed at a metal systainer storage cart. I laughed at them and replied: "I'm not going to spend a penny more! Haha!", but followed it quickly up with "Wait, do you mean for free?". They smiled and said: "Yeah, you know there's a small problem with one of the buttons, so you have to push a little harder, but yeah, it's a christmas gift!". I told them heck yeah I'll take it. I later found out they sell it for 6000NOK (800$). They even helped me set it up with the systainers I bought. I was so happy  [smile]

My next festool purchase aims for the LR32 system with OF1400, RO90, and possibly CSX with accesories.

Sjur,

I realize only too well how expensive "anything" in Norway can be......  I don't know if I could have afforded Festool if living in Norway permanently.....  Then again, weekly groceries would probably have prevented any Festool purchases anyway!  :)

Crap my grocceery bill rivals my mortgage payment monthly and i live in the United States. Pretty soon even here i wont be able to afford to eat or Festools. Things have gotten crazy expensive in the United States imop.

Fyi that is based in feeding two people a vegan diet and only two meals a day with a snack of nuts or fruit mid day like a handfull of each. I dont eat much! If i lived in norway I'm pretty sure i would not own Festools.

I would loooooove to live in Norway non the less!  Talk about ice climbing and what looks from the outside looking in to be a a awesome culture and society....

Yeah, I'm really happy to be able to live in Norway. I didn't really realize how awesome Norway actually is when I was younger, but I have grown to appreciate that fact more and more.

Funny you mention climbing, as I started climbing 2 years ago. There are not that many who climbs here in Norway, but it is a well known sport and when I tell people about climbing, they usually say it's an awesome sport. I wonder why there aren't more climbers?

My sister works at an indoor climbing center, and while I sometimes borrow her equipment to climb outside, I usually go to the climbing center with a friend or two because it's cheap and relatively easy. I'm planning on driving to a place called Rjukan, and spend 2-3 days to iceclimb with my family. It's going to be awesome.

Does it count if u bought it for yourself?!! Got a carvex a few days before Christmas. Pretty awesome jigsaw and added to the stack of systainers!!:)

I kept looking for the big brown truck to show up at my door before Xmas. Apparently, the ten letters I sent to Santa went into the dust bin. [sad]

There aren't any chimneys for Santa to get down here in Nigeria, so I had hoped he would subcontract UPS or FEDEX to get my presents to me... but alas, I had no green eggs or ham... OR tools for Xmas. [crying]

Over the hump with three weeks to go till returning home to the USA.  Hoping maybe Santa thought I was home in Florida, and there might be something waiting for me.  Oh Yeah!!!!.. Forgot.  My apron with mini-sys and another Centrotec Installer set IS waiting for me!!
Yayyyyy! [tongue]

Happy New Year!

Frank
