I have been stetting up my new shop and haven't looked at any type of miter saw fence in years.

I have a set up I made using Woodhaven Heavy Duty Extrusions right now and it worked well for the last 10 years or so. I am looking for something out of the box with great accuracy and precision. I have seen that FastCap Best Fence, I am not convinced. I have always preferred a fence that stood up tall, maybe this flat type is fine, not sure on that yet.

This is for a shop  set up that will never move, at least 10' min to the right and left(I might go as long as 16' either side). I don't need a moveable stand or a self measuring type like a Tigerstop. Cost isn't a factor. I want something that will last another 10 years or more that I can read without my glasses, set to within a 1/64" or better and get that cut every time. It should be Heavy duty to where I can drop some Ipe on it and not worry about it breaking anything. I have a feeling I might be making something again.

What are thoughts on the best fence system available.

This would have fit your bill, but it was discontinued .  :'( :'( :'(

Biese Fence

Might find one laying about on craigslist or fleabay.

Some guys really like the Duginske / Kreg miter fence too.

I remember that system well, even when I made my last one I couldn't get the parts. Well I couldn't get the tables anyhow, the other parts were available for a while on ebay..

They have one smaller one on ebay now for 775.00, its well used though and doesn't have all  the bells and whistles. Well he throws in the Makita saw too, only a 4 foot table to either side though.

I have the Kreg fence installed installed in my home shop. I wouldn't recommend it for your needs. It's too easily knocked out of calibration in my opinion. It suits my needs buy I can baby it.

I searched for a decent fence system last year and came up empty and settled for the Kreg. It's hard to believe that with all the different aftermarket tablesaw fence systems available there's seemingly only 4 or 5 miter saw systems. (excluding the extremely high dollar systems like the Tigerstop etc.)

The Tigerstop system is awesome!

For the last couple of weeks I've been helping out in a relative's fabrication shop in a City a couple of hours away. They manufacture commercial aluminum glazing units for highrises, hospitals, institutional, etc .

I've been on their 16" metal cutting saw cutting thousands and thousands of feet of extruded aluminum frames in preparation for shop assembly and then installation at site with the glazing done at site. The saw is sometimes used for some minor wood cutting needs as well.

The in-feed and out feed conveyor roller extension are 24' long each as the stock materials being cut come in 24 foot lengths.

It has an entry keypad at the saw station and once you start lowering the saw blade, 2 air-driven pistons clamp the workpiece firmly to the back of the fence for accurate cutting and the clamps release automatically when you lift the blade. The system is also able to receive a "cut list" as a digital file over the computer network and will automatically set the fence for each cut and print a label with the job name, dimension and the item location on the shop drawings. I'm pretty impressed on its speed and accuracy. I imagine that this saw and fence system is big bucks.
