What the heck is this for?

I have a pad allegedly for my Rotex 150 part number 458 748. Looks like this except 5". It's labeled as a Polishing Pad D5". My Festool guy sold it to me a year ago when I bought some polishing stuff like the foam pad, felt pad, some super fine Platin etc.  He said the 5" was preferable to the 6" so you had a soft edge. The problem is I can't figure out for the life of me how to attach it to my Rotex--when I pull the pad from my Rotex the connection is entirely different. Looks like this polishing pad requires a screw.

Any help? What's it for? How do I use it? Thanks!

You cannot use a 5" (125mm) pad on a 6" (150mm) sander. Additionally, if you have the current RO 150 FEQ, it does not use a bolt for the pad connection. There's no need to buy a 5" polishing pad for a 6" sander, the polishing pads are already undersized. You're not going to be able to use this.

Edit: I failed to answer... The polishing pad is used with sheepskin and other polishing media. Like I said, it's undersized and hard compared to a standard pad which allows the polishing media to curl over the edges preventing contact between the pad and the material being polished.
