hi, i was wondering what i could expect at a festool demo day, my local festool "shop in shop" has open door day tomorrow with a festool demo running all day.
depending on how late/early i finish work tomorrow i would like to go take a look and see if i can negotiate good conditions if i buy the domino, the surfix and some other stuff. usually i can negotiate about 10-15% of the tool price in accesories for free.
this time i have my mind set on getting the full domino systainer for free, thats not gonna be easy i think. is it actually considered as a accesory?

but anyway, who has been at a demo and who has got some tips on getting good deals on tools, accesories or shirts n caps for free?
btw, the shop also does a guaranteed 5% refund in gifte certificates that day, and with some kind of lottery system it can go from 10-15 or 100% refund, immagine 100% refund in a festool shop!  [eek]

Hi
I just went to a Festool Demo day last month and I was really happy that I went there. I was able to see and have hands on on a lot of new tools. Having a rep there was nice because he (Larry Smith) explained and showed to me different things that I did not understand. I was there about 3 hours and I was torn between to Domino & the Kapex. I ended up going with the Kapex and some other goodies and Larry was kind enough to give me a $ brake.
Its all good to go to the demos and get involved otherwise if the turnout is not good they wont be so anxious to do another one.

Have a good time

Marc

i accidently walked into a woodcrat and they were having a demo day there. They had a rep who would demo any and all the tools that I was interested in. Its how I ended up buying the paralell guide system

i went to the demo!
lucky there was not too many folks, 2 guys from festool demonstrating and  maybe 4-8 people around at any given moment.
there were more salesmen from the shop than usual and i got serverd by one that i didn't know. he was slightly annoying, as he ensisted on doing his routine about the new T-loc, i had to tell him several times i already had several at home.
also when i said i would take the domino he tried to push me to get the dominos assortment systainer aswell even though i told him i was going to get it later.

im happy that i could ask the festool guys about the new surfix oil applicator, i knew most about it through the website but i had some worries about using it with my own lineseed oil based product because it can auto combust. but the festool oil is also lineseed oil based, and thats why the applicator comes in a metal case so the oil on the spunge doesn't dry or combust.
so i took the surfix T-loc systainer set that contains everything for oil finishes,: the applicator, 3 different oil bottles, 5 fast fix spunges, 10 P240 abrasives, 10 P180 abrasives, 5 green pads for use between layers, and 5 white polisching pads for after last layer. i work alot with oil finishes, so it's no luxury to have.
i asked for a free box of 100 8x50 domino's and the 8mm bit, but they screwed me because they did count them up at the register.
the end price tag was much lower than i had calculated so i didn't ensist, thinking they made an error.
but when i got home i saw they gave me the domino plus, and not the set version, wich is €70 more. so now im missing those accesories!
because of the open door day they gave me a 5% coupon, with wich i took some mft clamps.
i asked the festool guys for a T-shirt and when they saw i took the domino they gave me a bag with a shirt, a cap and a roll meter! always nice!

If yer close enough take it back and tell them you wanted the kit and  pay the difference.

It shouldnt be a problem and if they get pissy

Remember the 30 day unconditional guaranty.

Does that mean that at the end of it all you are happy - or upset?

Peter

oh well i thought of taking it back, but the guarantee was already sent in electronically and i didn't want to drive back.
it's my fault for not checking the inside of the systainer.

in the end im happy about the festool reps, they weren't pushy in any way, simply explaining and demonstrating how everything works.
but the non-festool shop employees were kind of pushy, and usually i can negotiate for 10% free accesories. this time i got to negotiate nothing, i just got a 5% standard discount.

i'll buy the 2 missing domino guides if the need arises, it's just gonna cost me €100 instead of €70
