What’s wrong with this Festool ad?

I'll bite. What's wrong with it?
TSC55, CTC-MIDI, T18+3.
Three cordless tools, all on a cordless ad.
The QR code goes to a shortened URL that resolves to the FUSA Cordless tools page.
I don't see anything wrong with it other than maybe a missing charger?

But why present the saw like that? Did they just want it shown at an angle?

I guess I'm so used to seeing the blade extended in product photos that I never gave it a second thought.

I’ll grant them artistic license for the colossal drill but to show the saw in an unsafe and actually impossible condition is inexcusable.
(the Fast Fix lever has to stay out for the blade to remain extended doesn’t it?)

You can get the blade to stay extended with a zip tie. They don't use real syrup for pancake pictures, after all.
I mean, look at the top banner of the FOG. At least they put the dust bag on the FOG image.

Some manufacturers object to the commission that an advertising company charges. So they have “in-house” ad agencies and they pocket the commission. It is usually a false savings resulting in less effective ads. It is usually more apparent on TV commercials which are more demanding.
My guess is that Festool has an in-house agency, which usually consists of one person. That one person will either come up from the image/sound side of the business, or the writing side. Regardless, one half of the equation will be underserved. They seem to know how to use Photoshop, so the story telling is probably underserved.
The recent deodorant commercials for Lume deodorant smelled mightily of do-it-yourself-with-an-IPhone-commercial. They are painful to watch, but happily they only last 30 seconds. Later versions are incrementally better, possibly with the aid of the television production company.

I would say it's false advertising. It says build more with cordless. This is not true - corded tools would build more. [big grin]

What ever you might think about this sort of advertising, it works! Look at how many of us are talking about it.
It's called "viral advertising". Make something that people share on social media and you're distribution of the material is taken care for you.
Try searching for "bernina 990" and see what sort of advertising comes up. You can pay $1000 for the privilege to buy a machine (requiring more money) without being told any information about it.

To someone not already familiar with it, if the saw were sitting there with the blade retracted, it would be hard to know what it is. So, I think that may be the reason it's shown with the blade out.
To me, the ad doesn't really convey "building" or making stuff. I think it would have been better to show the saw sitting on a short piece of track on a piece of wood. That would make it read as a. saw, and resolve the issue about showing it in an unsafe and unusable configuration.
As for featuring the drill, everybody and their brother makes a cordless drill/driver, featuring that tool doesn't really distinguish Festool as making unique tools.
