Which Dust Collector? mini or 26...or other?

Just put my order in for the mft/ts55, 3000mm rail (thanks Ken) and ct mini with Bob (Thanks brice, saved me a few bucks on tax [big grin])!!!

Hope I don't regret the mini  [unsure]

Enjoy the start of a nice collection!  I have a feeling you'll be back for more goodies as funds permit.

Alex, that's an internal engineering number, like a schematic number. It's not, to my knowledge, anywhere on the tools. If you look, none of the EKAT numbers match the order/catalog numbers.

Lol, you're right, those numbers aren't in the Ekat. Ok, I'll shut up and let you Americans sort it out for yourself. At least when I see one, I know where to look to see the difference.

Just found this Mini with number 456784 in the USA Ekat.  [cool]

linky doesn't work.

Package is 4 hrs away, but they don't estimate arrival till next tuesday  [crying]

*bah! they just called and set up time for next thursday. boo!

Hm, session expired error. I really don't like the java script they use for the Ekat.

To find it you can start here.

Then go to FESTOOL USA / CAN > Dust extractor > CT mobile dust extractors.

I have a mini and love it.  I have not found an application that it will not handle.  I even use it on my monster router table and it handles that very well.  In general I like the smaller Festools better.  Find myself reaching for the 1010 router more often than my 1400 or my 2200.  I don't have a TS75 saw because my 55 does everything I need.  I have both planers but I always use the smaller one.  I occasionally use the larger sanders, but because the DTS55 is so handy and controllable it gets 90 percent of my work.  The exception is my T15 drill.  I don't feel that I need anything smaller, although I have not used the smaller, new one.

If you have a 2200 router you might want the bigger unit, but my mini seems to work fine.  The bag capacity of the larger units might be a consideration, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem for me.

Besides, a mini is cheaper - more money for more Festools.  It's an addiction.

Jim,

What's a DTS55?  Do you mean the DTS 400?

Alex,

To post a link to the Electronic Parts Catalog (EKAT) copy, paste & edit the link in the second post in this thread:
Posting a link to the Festool E-Kat (Electronic Parts Catalog)

And here is a correct link to the CT Mini you referred to:
456784 - CT Mini 120V

You might also note that EKAT currently has two listings for the CT Mini, 456784 - CT Mini 120V
and 498236 - CT Mini USA 120V
Notice the different part number for the turbine.  At this time, I don't see anything on EKAT for a product numbered 583360.

Thanks, makes me feel a bit better  ;D

Now just to wait till Thursday  [mad]

Oh, just realized too....that the 3000mm rail probably won't fit worth a damn in my truck very well  [embarassed].

Are there any special general maintenance tips/products good to use on festool stuff?
Lube for the track?
Cleaner for the plastic?

greenMonster,

Festool should be the same price at all dealers.  Service level and knowledge will vary.

On the thread / topic question.....  You can certainly ask whatever questions in this or other existing threads, but if you  want to discuss a particular thing , I suggest a new topic be started.

Have fun with your new tools  [smile]

I have a mini and have never found it to be lacking.  It has enough capacity for me even when routing--you just have to realize that what you are giving up in capacity you are gaining with a smaller footprint and lighter weight.  The only thing I wish it had was some type of boom arm to keep the hose up where it belongs.

Yeah, I was wondering if I was going to miss the having the handle/boom.

I find having the systainer on top using the handle is sufficient to move it around.
I'm working on a diy boom idea.

My first idea is just to get some hose clamps and attach it to my zipwall pole. I'm thinking that it would be helpful for random things like drilling holes in walls etc....

you can buy a hose holder for the ct22 etc. its a metal bar with a coiled up bit on the end. it drops into a hole on the top of the ct. i dont have either so i cant say if that piece would fit onto a mini or midi. im sure you could make some sort of mount to support it

There is no hole to mount the hose holder on the Mini and Midi vacs.  I suppose you find a way to mount if you really wanted too.  Btw, I have a few pics of the hose holder on my site.
