Which Track Saw

The reason I did not recommend the HK is all the sheet goods he is cutting. Having the waste side anti-splinter device is not on the HK. He stated edge finish was a priority, the TS will produce a better cross grain cut on veneered plywood.

Tom

Sorry, missed that post earlier in the thread.  From the perspective of primarily cutting sheet goods, I agree the anti-splinter insert definitely helps with finish quality.  Having a few inserts cut to different plunge depths would probably yield the most benefit.

Phew! Glad that's all sorted.

Now I can get down to the Untidy Shop and do some work - ETS150 and some staining.  [big grin]

Thanks again Tom- I'm in Minnesota.

Whereabouts?
(I have relatives in du'lut)

The Mafell is cheaper in Au once one factors in the rail cost.
The rails are better in every practical way.

Whether you need more power, or need to move rails around or not is a factor.
For sheets the prescoring function is unique.
Dust control on the TS is good and Mafell may be 99% rather than 98%... So not a valid reason to choose the MT55.

If you already have FT rails then get the FT.
If not then it may be wise to investigate the MT55.

In the US the pricing difference is greater between the two. So it is not as easy as starting in Australia where the FT is a lot, and one can use an Eu 230v/50-Hz machine .

It made sense for me to get the MT 55 and it is as good as I need, so I recommend it. In North America I recommend you look at it hard as cost is more a factor

Hey  Holmz- I'm in (friendly) Fridley We get up to Duluth every chance we get- beautiful area, and gateway even more beauty :-)

Thanks very much for the thoughts- do you have any knowledge of the KSS 300 or KSS 400?

Also, what's the arbor diameter? I never seem to be able to find that in the specs...
