Why should I buy Festool routers?

As for the classifieds, are the warranties transferable?

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I do believe that at least in the US the warranty is on the tool and it doesn't matter who the owner is.  3 years from date of purchase regardless of who currently owns it.      It is transferable

Certainly the UK site states the warranty is for the benefit of the original purchaser and there is no transfer information.

"Festool warrants, only to the original consumer purchaser, that the specified tool will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a term of one year from the date of procurement."

http://www.festool.co.uk/service/warranty/pages/1+2-warranty.aspx

Interestingly, the USA site doesn't make that distinction, but neither does it mention transfer of warranty.

There are a number of hits for "Festool warrants, only to the original purchaser" including a couple from FOG where Christian himself confirmed it in 2007. Perhaps the warranty conditions in the USA have changed over the last few years?

Hopefully you'll get an *official* response soon.  [smile]

I'm not the official word but the warranties are transferable, as of 2008 or so, here in the N. America.  Festool started  thread asking for suggestions how they can make Festool better.  There were a lot of good suggestions in that thread.  One thing that did come directly from it was the transferable warranties.  I just happened to be the person that made the suggestion, so all you guys in N. America can thank me. [tongue]

I have received confirmation from Festool UK in the past (a couple of years ago) that here in the UK the warranty is transferable. Having said that, the UK warranty conditions changed at the beginning of 2013 to include the theft protection etc, so maybe they changed it then?
