Wine Barrel Adirondack Chairs

You selling these?  The wife wants one...

Jon

I currently have a new set of 2 plus side table (also made from wine barrels) which will be for sale at the Silent Auction fund raiser for my sons high school marching band on May 4th. Starting bid will be $300.

Retail value is about $1000 total for all three pieces.

Assuming you don't want to come out to California for that, here are a few guys who do make and sell them for a living (note that some of them make rockers too):

I like your design and layout the most .  It gives a nice feeling and look to the chair compared to some other designs that look heavy .  ( not in weight ) I've been doing some tables from barrels , now I'm about to tackle some chairs . How did you secure your seat staves , from the bottom ?

A single screw on each side from the bottom , countersunk for good depth. Pay attention to screw length and stave thickness.

Also use stainless steel screws .

On these new ones, I put a pocket hole screw on the center of the front cross stretcher to first seat stave to make it more secure(from the backside of course)

Just an FYI update on building techniques. Here's a picture of my latest set. Note the following diffs:

- I used knock down furniture bolts on the front legs. Mucho stronger.

- pocket screws in front legs to hold arms on. Better joint than screwing into end grain from the top.

- prefinished all pieces before assembly. Much easier.

Thx Tim . Here's the first one I made wich I like better, but those stretchers a pain to get cut on multiple curves and angles

(Just refinished it and haven't restained)
