Hi,
What is one of the top woods to use for cutlery in some cabinets.  Is it cork, Butternut, maybe Basswood?  I also cannot afford 1 million dollars per bf.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,
Steven

Maple, all of are accessories are hard maple.

The cost should not be that bad for an average size divider.

Softer woods chip/shave to easily with sharp knives being inserted in them.

You can just buy them already assembled in a variety of sizes. Rev-a-shelf is one source

Most of the time, when a secondary wood is used, it is intended to just blend in. Interior drawer parts are usually maple or some other unassuming thing that doesn't draw attention.

We moved into a new home last year and I made cutlery dividers for 5 or 6 drawers using hard maple leftovers I had in the wood rack.  I milled the stock to 1/2" thick and about 1/4" shorter than the drawer side height.  I used half lap joints between the crossing pieces and put 1/4" radius round overs on all of the top edges.  For a finish I just used Howard's Beeswax and Orange Oil.
