I have found that I have a lot more fun when using the carbide easy wood tools when turning, either for work related projects or myself. My local saw blade sharpener turned me on to a boxes
of 10 inserts for $33.00. They are identical to the easy wood square insert for the large rougher.
Also there are some videos on the youtube that show how to sharpen the inserts on a diamond
stone.

I need to go and pick up some blades this week and I will ask. It is a German company and they are inserts for planers. I also need to ask if they supply the round finishing and the diamond detail
inserts. Sharpening is not a big deal, just run the flat top over the stone....

I would be interested in the source for that box of cutters, if you are at liberty to share.

Thanks, Don

Thanks for the tip on the Easy Wood tools.  As a hobbyist with a family and a full-time job outside the workshop, I like the idea of being able to use lathe tools immediately and minimize or avoid having to do ongoing sharpening.  I see in the latest Woodcraft circular that the Easy Wood tools are going on sale around Fathers Day.  I too am interested in where the boxes of inserts are sold.

Thanks for the photo.. Do you have contact info, where these can be bought?  Are the other contours, eg the 15 deg radius, the "circle", the "spear" point available?  That would be helpful as well.

Thanks,

Don

I did stop by woodcraft and check out the jet 1221. It is a nice lath but a few things I did not like about it or that it did not have as a feature. It would be nice for it to either have a sliding or swivel head stock. That way you could do a larger bowl or platter if you needed to. Also I did not care for the tool rest and banjo. Seemed like they could have done a better job.  Jet does have new models coming out that is why they are discounting these as they won't be around after a bit when the new ones are released.
