Wooden Excavator Model

The beginning of the railings. Notice that the bends in the railings were made by mitering short sections of the 3/32" dowel stock and gluing back together to form the bends.

That is insanely awesome! The time it would take has to be a staggering amount!
The detail is obviously fantastic,  I really like the counter weight. Someone has a lot of patients, I just stare in amazement.

The total time spent building this was over 2800 hours. There are over 4000 parts. If you assume that Charles got $20 per hour, then the cost in labor alone is $56000. I believe it may have just sold, but I am not sure of that. I see the builder's brother on Facebook quite often, and there was talk of it being sold, however Rob ( the brother) did not say it was.

One more thing, look at image #40 which is of the finished bucket. The bits and pieces posted in another photo have been attached. Notice the way the wood grain of these bits and pieces lines up with the grain of the bucket side.

Front view. Notice the grain pattern in the cherry and walnut below the cab. The pattern goes together quite well in my opinion.

Words fail me - that is stupendous! [eek]

Amazing talent - I'd love to see more of his work.
