I got into DIY in the last year. Purchased some festool equipment to do some cabinets for home and to do learning projects (shop cabinets, etc).  I'm getting more into it and I'm thinking of getting a table saw, bandsaw, planer, and jointer.  I would like to take a class, especially on the table saw safety and ways to cut, etc.  Are there any classes people know of in the New York area.  I reside on Long Island but willing to travel to surrounding areas if work time allows.

While this doesn't directly answer your question regarding a woodworking class, you might want to spend a day visiting Felder in Delaware for their open house in November. I'll make the assumption that your have a reasonable budget given the value of Festool products you've purchased over the last year. They have a wide range of machines operating all day, and would be a great source of information as you debate the various options for a table saw, bandsaw, jointer, and planer. I'd also suggest adding a shaper to your list. When I made the trip a couple years back, as a relatively new hobbyist, I found it very worthwhile. I have no idea what your goals are for this equipment (and it could be overkill), but just wanted to mention the option.

I'll look for some info on the Delaware open house.  Thanks

You may also want to reach out to Woodworkers Club in Noralk CT (not too far from LI depending on where you're located). I believe they do classes as well.

Hello,

Come Visit us here at Ace Tool located in Wantagh, We have a large Festool demo display area and frequently have demo days with a Festool rep in store.

I offer woodworking classes out of my shop in Patchogue on a variety of topics. Some classes include: Intro to Woodworking, Joinery 101, rocking chair, cabinetmaking, cutting boards, bowl turning, etc.

I teach them in the morning or nights during the week, and on weekends. I also starting to offer a shop membership where you can pay a membership to the shop to use the tools and machinery. Though you do need to take a few classes prior to doing this upon my approval.

Here is a link to my website where all the info can be found.
