I recently mounted my dust deputy to the top of my CT26. I wanted a better place to put my sanders and hose, so I came up with a work center type attachment. I used 1/2" ply for the top and 3/4" ply for the bracket that mounts to the CT26. It works pretty well and saved me a bundle (though the Workcenter is way cooler). Hope it can help somebody out.

Sorry but I do not have pictures of my setup on my laptop at this point but I have a little cart based upon a design from Woodsmith. It's footprint is larger but it's height is less than your setup. I like that because it is lower than my workbench and my table saw. I also connected the shop vacuum (Rigid) with rigid PVC pipe. I had to heat it with a heat gun but the smooth PVC reduces losses. The shop vacuum didn't have an auto-on switch so I bought an after market one. A Bosch 5 meter hose connects to most tools and I use a 2.5 inch hose to my table saw. I'm sure the Festool vacuum is nicer but I'm pretty happy with my setup. The cyclone reduces cleaning of the filter a LOT. That is true regardless of the shop vac and filter.
I have that model Jet and the biggest issue with all wrapped sandpaper drum sanders is getting the paper tight enough so that it does not shift and overlap. It is also important to keep checking that tha paper does not get clogs as then there are burnish marks in your piece. I love mine, I installed a digital height gauge and have even used it to reduce engineering plastics to get the thickness I needed.

I think I paid about $10 less for it, however. Maybe not. I have been impressed with the ability to run the shop vac (about 6 amps) and the table saw (15 amps) off the same 20A circuit. I've only tripped a breaker once doing this (when making a maximum depth rip). It wants to fall out of the power socket so I hold it in place with a piece of wire.

I use my drum sander all the time and I love it. This is the older model but I modified the top for a 4" dust collection fitting. You guys are right on about the paper. You need to make sure it's tight to avoid burning. Once the paper has overlapped, it's toast and needs to be replaced.
I love my Performax 22-44. I bought it in 2005, six or seven years after Performax was sold to Jet but before Jet got rid of the Performax name. It works great! I recently had to replace the drive / conveyor after 13 years of hobbyist use. Other than that I have never had one issue with the machine. The issue with the sanding belts burning the workpiece when the strips stretch and over lap is very curable with experience. I just check the belt for a nice snug wrap before each use and then I stop the unit and snug the belt up again after five or six passes. The belts start to stretch once they get warmed up.
