A couple of years ago, I built the new-fangled workbench, which has been more than good to me.

However, there's only so many holes you can drill on a surface, so many colors of finish and stain, so much glue that you can abuse your workbench with, and finding myself with a thoroughly abused workbench, I think its time to do another one.  I like the one from the Woodsmith shop.

But since I am a slob at heart, I find that I fill the workbench top with clamps, tools, screws, glue bottles and just stuff in general, and pretty soon I dont have any space for the project.  So I thought I would modify it by adding a 4" shelf under the bench top.  I would put all the miscellany on the shelf and leave the top for the project.  Not sure it will work, but here's an image for those who might care to comment.

I hope this comes out right.

I really like the shelf idea.  I find myself needing a shelf like that, alot of the time.  I was thinking about doing something like that under my MFT/3.

Do you have pictures of your first workbench?
