Howieb and Everyone,
Before I could respond, our Beloved Leader and FOG site Administrator Shane answered. Any Festool dealer who offered a 36mm anti-static hose as a routine part of a CTxx dust extractor is making a side deal. Also as Shane told you, while the 36mm hose will improve dust collection and cleaning, that is only true for tools able to use a 36mm hose. None of the normal sanders, the OF1010 and MFK700 routers, the jig saws or the Domino can directly accept a 36mm hose.
Actually the best hose for the Kapex is 36mm Anti-Static but only @2m long. Festool sells 36mm AS hose in 3.5m, 5.0m and 7.0m lengths. They also sell the vac and tool ends separately.
When I bought my first CT22, along with a TS55, I also bought a trade cleaning set which included a 36mm AS x 5.0m hose. I used that 36mm hose with my TS55 as well as for cleaning. I use the 27mm hose for my OF1010 and sanders.
Before I received my Kapex, I had used them on visits to Europe. My friends there had made 2.0m or 2.3m lengths of 36mm AS hose for the Kapex. One fellow with a large shop buys his Festool hose in long coils, but that is not possible in the USA.
I find that when I cut 2.3m off a 7.0m hose, the 4.7m remaining is more than enough for cleaning. If I need to replace the hose on several Kapex I can make three from a single 7.0m hose. Fortunately I find the end parts last years, so I do not always need to buy more of the ends new each time I replace the hose.
Here on FOG we have often discussed installing the ends on hose. A short phone call to Festool USA service will provide you the part numbers for the ends. Those are sold as replacement parts, so you can buy them directly from Festool USA.
