Xtend and Climb telescoping ladders?

Seth, if you're a Costco shopper watch for LG roadshows, they offer various specials on ladders and accessories, and being a Costco purchase there's a great return policy

On the subject of ladders...... anyone trying one of the new (newer?) Werner three section extensions ?   3 Section Ladder

Seth
Seth,

I have a 3 section Werner aluminum extension ladder, 6'/18', 225 pound capacity. Love it! Easy to manuever in/out of a house or garage. A great feature is a strap that latches the front and rear sections together when collapsed, and doubles as a carrying handle. Would have bought the fiberglass one instead if my local store had carried it.

Regards, Dick

Seth, You know I ain't so close to being huge that a good wind couldn't blow me off a roof or out of a tree.

I also, cannot haul the load on my shoulders now that I'm 39 that I was capable of back when I was only 38.
I can still carry my LG up a hill and across a large lawn without quite falling on my face ::)

I have used my 4' LG for working on a ceiling over a stairwell.  I have used it for installing windows over stairwells.
even tho i have a 14 foot (or is it 12, I have had it so long i forget) 3 legged orchard ladder, That LG is my go to ladder for even the toughest pruning jobs.
With those spread legs, i have, upon occasion, used it for cleaning gutters.  It is far safer on uneven ground than any but my 3 legged orchard ladder.
My LG will fit in the back of our car >>> with the seat down.  when I get to where i want to use it, i can open it up to a very safe 8' stepladder.
ORRRR, I can open it up to a 17 foot very safe straight ladder that is stronger than any other alluminum ladder I have ever used. (except for one mentioned at end of this)
There have been occasions when I needed a short, low scaffolding.  My pickup truck is a 1/2 ton with the short body (6 foot bed).  I have thrown my LG along with a few short boards (boards, not 2x planks) and a couple of saw horses (colapsible type) into the back and away I go.
I have used it as a makeshift scaffolding on a stairwell.  One four foot section as a leg on the bottom deck and the other half stretched out to an 8' decking to walk on.  Not level by any means, but doable.

Out of all my ladders I have had and/or still have in my yard, that will be the very last to go, except maybe my little 2' high fold up step ladder that I found lying on the road about 30 years ago. I have had, and worked with, every type of ladder from a 40 foot HD extension ladder to that little 2' i just mentioned.  I even had a very heavy duty 36 footer with double wrungs that i had an electronic hoist for lifting nearly 1/2 ton loads up onto my scaffolding.  That little Little Giant has gotten more varied use than any I have ever used.

I'm generally uncomfortable on ladders and on most can't make it more than 2 steps up.  The LG ladders are the only ones I've found that I can make it any higher on - and those I can make it all the way to the safety limit (2 steps down on A-frame, 4 steps down on extension) - and not have a problem.  They are enabling for me; I wouldn't be up on a ladder that high at all with anything else.

Yes they are heavy, but for me... it's LG or it doesn't happen.

[scared] -> [crying] ->  8)  ?

Have you used a Werner 300 or 375 lb ladder? Extremely sturdy, but getting heavier also. That rating label on fiberglass ladders makes a huge difference.

No, haven't had reason to since getting the LG ladders (I have two of them now).  Mine are both aluminum though.

For those of you who may be as old as me. LG's now come with wheels and they are available as an accessory. Not perfect but a big help.
