6/1/12 Who is a happy new owner of Domino XL or the Syslite

Who has buyers remorse from buying a $175.00 flashlight? Just wondering? Festool seems to have made more enemies then friends with the Syslite campaign. At least on the other forums i hang out at. The XL looks amazing though, Eric

Ron, interesting you say two, bc from the get go i have maintained that for $175 you should get two lights and a nice tripod. Then I could leave one in the box van and have one for around the home, or when doing a bunch of drywall have two on a tripod facing an entire wall. And for all you people demonstrating the lights capability in the attic, please. I go into a clients attic once every five years and my HVAC guy cant afford a $175 light. He uses a $20 one he got at Dicks. Just my two cents, Eric

Scott,

I have in the past used Sedge as part of humorous posts here, but I really wanted to go different and spotlight him.  That is why I made this after looking at dozens of images of him.  This is a classic pose for him and one that is very fond to me.

Brian is one of the most extraordinarily awesome humans.  That is why I did it.  He rocks!

Yes, to be that talented and handsome to boot. If I didn't love him, I would have to hate him.  [big grin]

I haven't thrown my hat in the Syslite review ring yet, but the one thing I don't like about it is that I am neurotic about it. This is one of those things that it seems best to have a spare tucked away somewhere behind a sign saying: "break glass in case of emergency only".

No, Bob, I was just disappointed that you didnt send me one too!? BTW where did you get that pink pen? Please tell me it was Nikkis, Eric

Too funny, I was thinking the sme thing.

That would be a great reason to get one for your wife. It is great in the event of a power outage, and you know how important that is.

Tripods I have a-plenty. I do need a better portable light though. With 6 3 watt LEDs the Syslite might be the ticket. With that kind of output I'd be willing to spend a bit for it.

The problem I have with the Syslite is that I already have batteries and a charger. I don't want to buy more such batteries/chargers that are incompatible with my other tools.

I guess what want is a Syslite-Lite. Otherwise I'll probably look elsewhere.

Eric, it was on one of my iPad apps!  I imported the photo and then I can write on it or add captions!  Good times!

Scott, what do you use for lighting on your jobs? I only need lighting like once a year. The other 365 days I rely on the SUN! Eric

Used that small Graco to spray Flood Solid Color Deck Stain on a PT deck, backbrush of course, came out awesome.

Nice, Eric, glad to hear it. Definitely a production boost using that method.

We have historically used a combination of junk including halogen 250 and 500 singles, twin heads and fluorescent telescope bazookas. We have put more in dumpsters in the past 5 years than I care to remember.

Lighting is a big thing for us on interiors, and is very seasonal. Even lately though, on cloudy mornings our guys are needing light. We work new construction alot, where the finished lighting is not installed until after we are finished, which makes our life difficult in a couple of respects. The syslite fits the criteria of a couple of critical lighting needs, for my company so far.

Scott, I give you and your company a pass. It seems like you cant really put a price on having adequate light in your line of work. For me a single light price would have to be $75. Maybe after BuilderBob loans me his and I take it through some of my field tests I could be swayed. It would replace two small halogens which currently are stuck on indestructible mode. I really like that Flood product for PTs, Eric

You may have to pry that out of my cold hands!  I'm gonna mount it to my bjornklader pants and have it on my person at all times!!!  Haha!  I've waited this long for it...I can't part with it now!

The workday wasn't slow... Had a wedding to go to so it was shortened!

You are the second reliable source I have heard about the Flood from. Will have to check it out.

Its just a matter of time before you have a thinner rag in your back pocket and stand too close to a halogen...you will run for the nearest bidet and the syslite epiphany will overwhelm you.  [big grin]
