This just in from another thread (a direct answer from Festool):

From Brent at Festool.

Just a couple questions:

Yes.  The tool end of the hose is the same diameter even though the hose diameter is different.

Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news but the adapter will NOT fit sleeved hoses. The sleeved hose has a plastic retaining ring that clamps the cloth sleeve to the plastic end that screws in to the hose. It's visible in the first picture. The OD of the retaining ring is 1.66". The ID of the original fitting is 1.70", while the ID for the new bayonet fitting is 1.54".

The correct fitting for the 27/22 sleeved hose is 500668 and is presently NAINA. In post #113 Shane has already said that he will notify us when and if this fitting becomes available.

"Just when I thought I was out, they drag me back in" (Al Pacino in Godfather III)

So, based on what you just said, anyone who uses the sleeved hose should NOT order this sander, at least until it becomes certain Festool will be making the correct retrofit kit available to North America?

I have 2 sleeved hoses and I ordered the sander. [eek] I just plan on using the present sleeved hoses and then when the adapters become available, I'll order 2 of them and retrofit the sleeved hoses. Or I may get in contact with a couple of Foggers that have access to NAINA products.

I've never really had issues with the hose coming off the sanders, my problem children have always been the TS 55 and DF 500.  [smile]

[member=60452]McNally Family[/member], your sleeved hose will work with the sander. But it will have a friction fit rather than utilizing the locking feature. If this is important to you in your buying decision, you will want to wait for the 22mm version of the locking connector to be available.

I just now fully grasped the idea that you don't need the retrofit in order to use your existing 22mm sleeved hose with the new locking dust port on the new sander (friction fit is plan B).  Thanks for your patience Shane, I told you I was slow....

Don't wait, get the Pro 5 LTD before it sells out.  The new locking feature is completely unnecessary for sanders, so your old style hose connectors will work just fine with the new sanders/tools.

I think at this point we need an FAQ stickied, because questions are being repeated a lot.

I had a question earlier that may have drowned in then flurry of posts. Sorry for the repeat.

Will the edge protector on the new sander fit the older model ?

Thx

[member=3693]mwildt[/member], it will not. The new sanders have a slot that is used to interface with the pad protector and connect it to the sander.

Thanks Shane.

Does the old model have edge protector ? Hard to tell on Festoolusa site.

[member=3693]mwildt[/member], no.

The Rotex sanders are the only other sanders with an edge protector with the exception of these newly released new PRO 5, DTS 400 REQ and RTS 400 REQ models.

I hope it is legit; I just ordered it!

I'd just keep a close eye on your credit card statement and wait anxiously by the door for delivery, that Shane guy who started the thread has a bit of a dodgy history around here! [big grin] [eek]

I'm currently stationed in Germany.  Will you (Tool Nut) ship to APO addresses?

Thanks!

Can you use two of the $50 vouchers towards a single tool purchase?
I'd like to get two of the  Sanders  now with the intention of using $100 off towards a future purchase...

How do those $50 coupons work?  They expire on dec 2017, can I use them anywhere that sells Festool or only at the same dealer we bought this sander from?
When we make a future purchase can we use a maximum of one coupon per order or can we use 5 coupons towards the single purchase and stack them?

[member=11933]ScoFF[/member], good questions.

Vouchers are included in the sander Systainer. They expire on 12/31/2017. They can be used with any dealer (as long as it's the Tool Nut  [poke]). Seriously though, you can use it with any dealer. You cannot combine the vouchers on a single order. Nor can the voucher be used to purchase another PRO 5 sander. However, the voucher can be used in combination with a tool + vac/mft package deal.
