Alright, which Festool is your favorite Festool?

Which Festool? easy:  Christian Oltzscher;  CEO, Festool USA . For navigating the "at-times" difficult waters of the US tool buying economy and bringing us Festool products and a great deal of savvy marketing -- not the least of which included putting up with way too many people who thought he and his company was in any way to blame for the July FOG outages.  All of us in the US are very lucky to have had him at the helm for the last 8 or so years and hope for many more years.

John,
I wasn't aware that Christian is a "tool."
Matthew

Of the things he and  Festool has been called in this last episode, I don't think he will take exception of being called a "tool," a cool tool at that.

And Matthew, in no way did I mean my comment to stir up any past unpleasantries...only to give a pat on the back to C.O. It is rare that we users get any direct interplay with the company hierarchy -- to me that is a real plus.

Yeah,

I have to agree with Mr Lucas here.

You don't meet many genuine nice guys who are CEOs

I mean look at this face.

For that matter, take a look at this other guy here.

Know who he is? You have his picture on your hard drive?

Betcha never guess who he might be.

And thats my point.

Aside from that, the Kapex is the most used tool, and the Systainer Ports and Sorttainers have the greatest impact in keeping my shop organized. You guys would probably lynch me if you found out how many tools I have that have never even been plugged in yet, or have never touched a piece of wood.

Rick,

I hope that several of those tools are Festool prototypes or even further along the R&D progression, especially a impact driver/drill.  I have been holding out against buying a C12, hoping that Festool will introduce a battery powered drill/impact driver.  The NiMH batteries of my 5+ years old Makita drill are getting a little weak, and I'll likely have to buy something within a year.

RE the main question, my favorite Festool products are the TS 55 with guide rail and the sanders, especially the RO 125 and the ETS 125.  The saw/guide rail enabled me to install some custom doors that the pros ran away from and the sanders enable me to work for hours without tingling hands.  Given my penchant for misplacing items, Per's observation rings true, too.

Okay, so I am envisioning an array of as yet un-released and un-announced Festools that you are supposed to be Beta testing.  ;D Well get to it, Rick. We need more tools to talk about and keep it lively around here. Otherwise, it really is a lynchable offense.

Greg, I can make the same statement.  I have tools for electric work, plumbing, drywall and one of my son's still has his concrete and stained-glass tools taking up valuable space.  Right now I'd say that it's 50/50 with 50% being for woodworking and 50% for everything else.  Those who have been on this forum for several years will remember the stories I've told of limited space.  Nothing has improved in the last 3 years so I'm looking for a new house with a 2-car garage that will never see a car.

Hands down my favorite is the sanding block (583129)  Genious!

Are you kidding us?  Please tell us why this sanding block is your favorite.  I can see the potential for reaching into narrow recesses for which I would wrap a piece of sandpaper around a putty knife.  Most of the time I simply wrap a piece of sandpaper around a scrap of wood, or grab one of those abrasive coated foam sponges.

TS55, how could it get any better (maybe TS75  ???). If any one tool says festool genius it's the saw and guide. Then the C12 awesome power and longevity, superb control, and the LS130, for a painters sander it saves hours and fingertips on door frames, and skirting.

Funny the domino saves me time, and I must have made a 1000 joints with it, but I find it's heavy, noisy and fiddly to set up with poor balance in the hand, so it could never be a favorite. It's very difficult to choose, I love all my festools almost equally.

A few days ago it was my Kapex because it was my latest addition.  ;D

But I got my OF1400 back from being repaired on Friday, (I'd been using a loan Elu 1/2 inch as a stand in.) I'd forgotten what a pleasure it is to use. well balanced, all controls close at hand and in the most logical posistion. With the chip collector in place very little mess to clear up and a lot less dust inside my lungs. I guess what I'm trying to say, is whatever tool is being used most at the time!!!!! ;D

Uhhhh....ya Dave I am kidding.  It's a great gag item for that special someone in your life so you can say you got he/she a "festool sander" for Christmas.

TS55, but that's only because it's what I have used most. Maybe my favorite Festool is not actually a Festool but in fact where I seem to buy most of them. Craigslist :)  I just got my RO150 there last week, brand new with a lot of buffing accessories for about 20% off retail. I figure the guy got his full investment back due to the recent price hike, but I made out OK too.

My favorite is the Ro 150. I’ve taken rough boards and made them smooth as glass. Most used is my Ct 36: on sanders, router, and saws.

Used to be my TS55 but now its my HKC55.

Can't say I'm blown away by the cordless drills and Centrotec just leaves me cold.

That’s a tough one !

If my parallel guides are dialed in that would be my first choice.  They seem to get out of parallel from time to time.  Not sure why.

Oh, who am I kidding ?  The Domino is my favourite.  I get so carried away with the Domino, I sometimes think I could build a whole house with no nails.

Here is a vanity that is in progress.  Must be 100 dominoes in it !
