Any plans for wider dominos?

My rule of thumb has always been that if you can push fit tenon & mortice joints together by hand then there will be enough "wiggle room" to allow air to escape and for the glue to form a good thorough bond.

With the domino cutter being as precise and accurate as it is then the joint can be so tight that if you try and put the domino in without grooves then the air/glue cannot rise and it wont seat properly. Trying to get hand cut joints this tight is virtually impossible.

So with shop made Domino's I make them 0.5mm thinner and groove them. Some may disagree and will have other methods.

Its a fine call, you need to have a good firm fit but if you over do it then the joint will be as slack as a wizards sleeve and liable to failure especially with outdoor joinery subjected to all the seasonal changes and the associated stresses.

Like I said before this is early days and experimentation is on going and others may have better ideas.

LOL, I can still hear "Borat" say that every time I read/hear that line.
My son used to walk around the house saying that line mimicking his accent...my wife was not impressed.

I should take more time reading the subject lines.

I read "Wilder Dominos" and my mind raced to many things.... Dominos...on choppers, intimidating small towns.

Cheers,
Steve
