Anyone use the Kapex for window / door frames?

Does anyone here use the kapex to scribe / cut tenons for window or door frames?

Have you had to re- adjust section sizes or frame depth in order to become compatible with your kapex?

I like to do my frames 94mm thick (deep). I would  struggle to cut tennons at this depth (using the Kapex), however i'm willing to reduce my frame depth by 10mm in order to make it work, but no more.

I also would intend to use the kapex to cut 9 degree scribes into the jambs, as so they sit snuggly onto the frame cills. Does anyone have experience in doing this and what are the best methods to achieve desired results.

Another question that has just popped into my head...

When the saw head is 'up', what is the distance between the bottom of the blade, and the flat surface. Is it still 88mm?

I.E what is the thickest stock that can sit under the blade, regardless of whether you can actually cut through it or not.

I had a quick look at my Kapex and when the saw head is up the distance between the bottom of the blade and the base is 150 mm (close to 6") but then the blade-guard is still down. (no comments about that for safety reasons). The distance when the blade-guard is starting to disengage is close to 100mm (about 4"). You could probably get more than 4" in under the saw if you push your piece of wood in behind the blade from the side. But there is a few more things then the blade that sticks down from the armature for example the lever for depth-limit (the green nob).

NOw that already sounds promising. Sounds like I could still use the depth guage to cut tennons, at a stock thickness well over 88.

Can the blade guard be manually over-ridden at any location?

And slightly off topic - Why do you say there are safety issues when the blade guard is down? Just out of curiosity

There are no issues when the guard is down. Suggesting anything that would hinder the guard funtion in order to gain capacity would be a safety issue.

Well, the depth guage wont have any effect at that hight. The highest point where it has any effect is at 40mm (about 1,5") off the base.
