Just ordered an OF 1400 from Bob Marino to beat the price increase, it seems everything I ordered was on backorder. I guess I'm not the only one. Who else got in at the deadline?

I did Friday. :) festool should see a nice spike in sales due to all of us spending $$$ to save $$

I don't get it- the dollar ha sheen so strong last 2 years they've gotten their price increase through FX twice over.

I ordered a Domino DF500 yesterday and got notice that it shipped .  I ordered from ShopFestool (US Tool & Fastener), decided to try them out and get the free T-shirt.  (I'm always a sucker for a freebie ...)

I've ordered from Bob Marino several times and had great service, I just thought I'd give another vendor the business this time.

Bob's sending me an ETS 150/3, an LR 32 hole drilling set, a holey rail, some clamping elements, and some other stuff. I was just having fun clicking add to cart :)

Ordered 150/3 last night from us tool. Also with free t shirt  [big grin]
Got email today its already shipped out. Gotten quick service from them.
Of course I am still waiting on my kapex from woodcraft that I purchased a month ago  [mad] [mad]

I ordered my 150/3 as well on Monday, these are selling like hot cakes!

Shouldn't have spent the money, but...Received the OF 1400 router last week.  Week before was the Rotex RO150.  Last December it was the Vecturo.  I should be all set for quite a while.  [blink]

I have used all three enough to assuage my guilt, a little.  ;D

I thought I was going to beat the price increase on a domino XL but the wife changed my mind. I did have the ok to buy but sometimes when they say yes they mean no!
Does anyone else know the true meaning of "IT'S FINE!" What's the point in saving $45 when u end up sleeping in the garage with the new tool?!! On 2nd thought, it is getting warmer and she would forgive me at some point!

Oh well.

I love my Festools and i will not stop buying them.

I must also admit i do feel a bit ripped off at times.

Sooner or later that has to work against Festool.

I don't think i am that unique.

The fact is most professional contractors kinda just laugh and snicker when you mention Festool..

I would say they keep this up they land the self squarely in the rich guy hobby market and sink long term..

I agree with u for the most part. The track saw I bought 5-6 yrs ago is now almost $150 more than what payed for it. Is it worth that much more money? I'm not sure?
I do love all my festool and will also continue to buy more. Just hate how the prices keep going up. Pretty sure the dewalt circular saw I just bought to replace my burnt up dewalt saw was within $20 of what I payed for it 10 yrs ago. I have never heard what the true reason festool increases prices like they do is!
Maybe just because they can?

I think maybe part of Festools marketing strategies is to appeal to a certain demographic.

If not for wealthy guys with money to burn whom else would buy Festools ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Festool's price increases are stupid, especially when the dollar is up.

Every time someone posts "I can't stop buying" or "slippery slope" or "I'm addicted" on the FOG it increases the next price jump by 0.001%.

1% - 3% adds up quick!

[blink]

these price increases just pull forward to today sales which
would have occurred normally later in year.
the idea of pulling forward sales is shown clearly in kapex
the previous sale, the latecomers are all stock out and waiting
for their kapex and do you think festool will sell this same
amount for rest of year? i dont, feb probably canabilized a
whole year of sales.

so whats the poor dealer to do now that there are no sales
to beat, no price hikes to sell, well, it wont be normal sales
it will be way boring below normal sales. feast and famine.

one can hope for the new tools to show up and generate interest.
but i doubt even the green coolaid drinkers are lining up for the
edge bander unit, and it will be years before they do.

Amazon is still listing some products at old prices: http://www.amazon.com/Festool-571903-Random-Orbital-Finish/dp/B00HQVB2RG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427899475&sr=8-2&keywords=ets+150%2F3

Not sure what would happen if you actually tried to buy it though.

you can buy it at the old price, amazon honors it. they dont read price
increase letters, their computer is monitoring other respected retailer price
changes and then they adjust. i saw this during last year's price increase
which was more severe than this year, and so the discounts were better
if i missed it. for example the day after kapex went off sale amazon was
still happy to sell you one at sale price.
they are good at being slow.

I just started buying Festool tools.  Started with the Kapex / CT48 last month.  I'm kinda new the woodworking tools world.  I work in metals and machining.  I'm used to using heavy equipment that makes what I want to .0001" or better if needed, manually or via CAD/CAM.  I also buy Snap-On tools for most of my needs.  Festool tools are new to me.  These are supposed to be the best but I'm not impressed at all so I'm probably not going to be a Festool fanboy at all.  These tools seem to be very plastic-y. I was about to buy the OF2200 and accessories and the TS 75.  I had them in my shopping cart on Amazon.  Imagine my surprise when my cart told me of a price increase on everything.  [eek] The price went up $84 on stuff I already had a hard time justifying.  It is sad that this stuff is supposed to be the best.  I thought the dollar was so strong as to make Wall St. worry and Festool still increases the price?  Why aren't they adjusting for the exchange rate?  Americans get to feel the detriment of the weak dollar but don't get to feel the benefit of the stronger dollar? Needless to say, I emptied my cart and will rethink buying any more from Festool and their already sky-high price fixed prices.  Like I said, it is sad that these plastic gimmicky tools are supposed to be the best.  Maybe they are, in the sad state of all the China made crap out there but is it worth paying 3 times as much for some a little better, if that?  Or is it just hype that we fall for when we see a price difference?  If it cost more, it is better?  3 times better?  I might just have to look into buying old equipment that was made back when there was pride in manufacturing and rebuild them and machine the parts that I need to make them precise and nothing on them that is made out of cheap plastic.  Man, I hate plastic on tools, especially housings.  Man, you look at the craftsmanship of tools made 30, 40 or more years ago and you just laugh at the plastic crap you see today.  Heck, for what Festool sells this stuff for, at least they could make their stuff out of steel, carbon fiber, or something, not plastic. Anyway, I ramble when I'm disgusted.    [mad]

Kapex, never been used.
CT48, never used.
I just shake my head at these whenever I walk into the shop.  I just hope they don't suck when I start to use them in a couple of weeks on my project.

Hi Big Red and welcome to the FOG.

I agree with you that many tools today are not the quality of old.

Although many Festool tools have plastic based housings etc,. they and other quality brands have metal internal parts; in fact anything that moves or supports is generally metal.

Have a good look at a Domino, R2 sheet sander or the ROTEXs with their metal chassis and gearbox.

Remember many of those less expensive tools, particularly those in the chain hardware stores have plastic gears, bearings and supportive internals. Exceptions would include most tools by Metabo, Makita and Milwaukee.

However, I am not suggesting everything made by Festool will please you, we all have our own needs and standards.

Regarding prices, nearly every country had an April 1 price increase.[sad]  Have a look at the prices we pay in Australia and New Zealand.  [eek]

Now back to happier thoughts and old tools, if you look up the posts by [member=3891]WarnerConstCo.[/member] you will see descriptions of how he restores old machinery for his use.  [smile]
