I just started buying Festool tools. Started with the Kapex / CT48 last month. I'm kinda new the woodworking tools world. I work in metals and machining. I'm used to using heavy equipment that makes what I want to .0001" or better if needed, manually or via CAD/CAM. I also buy Snap-On tools for most of my needs. Festool tools are new to me. These are supposed to be the best but I'm not impressed at all so I'm probably not going to be a Festool fanboy at all. These tools seem to be very plastic-y. I was about to buy the OF2200 and accessories and the TS 75. I had them in my shopping cart on Amazon. Imagine my surprise when my cart told me of a price increase on everything. [eek] The price went up $84 on stuff I already had a hard time justifying. It is sad that this stuff is supposed to be the best. I thought the dollar was so strong as to make Wall St. worry and Festool still increases the price? Why aren't they adjusting for the exchange rate? Americans get to feel the detriment of the weak dollar but don't get to feel the benefit of the stronger dollar? Needless to say, I emptied my cart and will rethink buying any more from Festool and their already sky-high price fixed prices. Like I said, it is sad that these plastic gimmicky tools are supposed to be the best. Maybe they are, in the sad state of all the China made crap out there but is it worth paying 3 times as much for some a little better, if that? Or is it just hype that we fall for when we see a price difference? If it cost more, it is better? 3 times better? I might just have to look into buying old equipment that was made back when there was pride in manufacturing and rebuild them and machine the parts that I need to make them precise and nothing on them that is made out of cheap plastic. Man, I hate plastic on tools, especially housings. Man, you look at the craftsmanship of tools made 30, 40 or more years ago and you just laugh at the plastic crap you see today. Heck, for what Festool sells this stuff for, at least they could make their stuff out of steel, carbon fiber, or something, not plastic. Anyway, I ramble when I'm disgusted. [mad]

Kapex, never been used.
CT48, never used.
I just shake my head at these whenever I walk into the shop. I just hope they don't suck when I start to use them in a couple of weeks on my project.
