The battery charger for my much loved Bosch driver died and no replacements found. I ordered the brushless Bosch P22 driver. I used it for the first time today and it’s amazing. It’s tiny, but has incredible power. I think I like the ergonomics of my old unit better, but this new version is a lot more powerful.

If you need another charger, I might have another buried somewhere.  I think I bought the 12V Tools individually, and each came in a kit.

I've got a CXS and that's why I haven't bought a FlexiClick but my batteries are about go.  I really prefer native support for the standard ball detent bits instead of Centrotec so I might switch to Bosch and mothball the CXS.

I liked the Bosch P22 driver so much that I ordered the twin P32 Bosch drill. Both are exquisite tools with brushless 12volt King Kong power. I still love my Festool drills, but the Bosch tools are probably what I’m going to grab for a quick job. I made “holders” for them attached to my assembly work bench. A quick grab and I’m in business.

The warranty is excellent, but the down side is that registering the tools on the Bosch website is difficult. I ended up calling to register and I’m computer literate.

RE PS32 / FlixiClick motor swap. If I'm reading the specifications you gain the brushless motor but lost about 30%(179in vs 265in) torque. How is that working in real world application?

Interesting photos.  I'm not going to do that but I bet there's enough room behind the FlexiClick's motor to attach the belt hook to the Flex case.

I have the FlexiClick and really like it, but was bummed they didn't do a brushless version. I've never done a motor swap like that, is it difficult? Did you just swap the front parts or did you swap the engines? Did you need to mod and faff about a lot or was it straightforward?

No motor swap. Super quick to do, just exchange gear boxes and put back together.

Driver is now shorter, lighter, and has a belt clip which was the most important thing.

This is used for fine assembly and installations. I have not noticed the loss of torque from brushed motor to brushless motor.

The hammer function will enable them to hang things on brick or block walls as they move around (like College kids do).

Looks like a great all purpose tool. I briefly considered it, but I’m usually driving big lag screws with a hammer drill and I need something very powerful.

It’s going to be interesting to see what the fusion of Festool and Bosch yields.

Driver is now ... has a belt clip which was the most important thing.

Strangely enough, when I got mine in Belgium, it comes with the L-Boxx "systainer" from Sortimo, and even though not mentioned in the description, this includes a holster, so - in theory - no need for the belt clip.

That said, I hate both holsters as well as beltclips (read: I'm an idiot that would still find a way to drop them, typically drillbit first into top of foot).

A webshop in BE is now selling them for EUR 159.00, free shipping. Can't go wrong with that.

[EDIT]Oh, forgot to add: I got it because I really wanted it, ehr, needed it, because some work in corners of crowded places lies ahead of me, and also because I have the older generation model already (with fixed Jacobs chuck), but that one is on its last working battery (10 years!), which is at about 50% of its original capacity I'd say. So, I wanted replacement batteries, and I wanted the angle chucks (which wouldn’t fit on the old model since that has a fixed chuck, but I digress), so for the price I paid I basically got the driver for free.

Now, it must be said that the new batteries are a VERY tight fit, especially in my old driver. I almost couldn't get it back out. I'm sure that with some wear on the battery hooks this will become easier.

Cool! I may do that too then. Makes is even stranger that they didn't offer the FC system for the brushless one. Now I just have to figure out the European type numbers, but I think it almost must be the GSR 12V-20.

Hi!

This is only a theoretic "problem".

For soft screw-joints like in wood, when torque is rising continuously, the brushless motor will actually offer more torque than the standard motor.

For hard screw-joints like fastening bolts, when torque rises abruptly at the end, the standard motor will offer a bit more torque because of the momentum from the rotor.

Since EC motors lack a classic rotor, they offer less torque for hard screw-joints.
