Bought an Insta-RailSquare and got 2 Insta-Dogs - what are the dogs for?

I have been using the square in the normal way, resting it against the piece to be cut, and it works well to keep my rail square.
When I bought it, it came with these dogs. What are they for?
Obviously they can square the rail in an mft top, but why would you need to do that when the mft has it's own rail square?
Just want to know before I go tossing them in the bin (they were free).

If you are cutting something that has a moulded edge (maybe a large bullnose for example) that the square can't reference off the dogs will reference off the edge below the mould if that makes sense.

The dogs are there to guard your railsquare!  [tongue]

It is a little odd.  Based on how I use my square, you're right, I don't see the point, other than making you think you're getting something extra compared to a competitor.

I’ve actually used it in combination with my MFT table. Actually works pretty well. Other than that, not much use for them that I’ve found...

Found the answer in this vid:

They are for when you want to cut two pieces a the same time and the dogs give you purchase against both edges.
