Carvex 420... Buy or not?

Hello I'm new here

It looks like really nice forum.

I wonder about the new Carvex 420. I have read alot... here in this forum.  Are there still lots of problems with the "guide" etc etc like the older Carvex 400?
I'm going to use it for relatively thin wood.
Is it a good choice, or do I buy something else?

Hello ADC and welcome to the FOG

I used to be a woodworker who refused to use a jigsaw (unless I really had to) but all that changed as soon as I got my hands on the PSC420.

The machine is beautifully engineered, is easy to use and produces brilliant results. Take a look at my 3 videos which you can find in the review section here on the FOG. Since making them I have used the PSC420 more and more and I can now say that I am turning to the jigsaw more often and am always delighted with the high quality of the cuts. I know that you will be using it on thin material but I have recently won a bet at the timberyard by cutting a 120mm thick oak 'sleeper' through in one cut (which was perfectly square and smooth as silk) - I am now a convert to battery powered jigsaws and always take mine with me to the timberyard.

It is worth making the effort to buy the new Carvex blades when you buy the 420 although, I have found, that the old Trion blades work perfectly well.

I am sure that you are aware of the 30 day return policy...

Use it if you are not satisfied. Be very wary if you read posts from anyone complaining about any new tool who fails to return the tool in that time.

I hated the 400 carvex and would of told every one never to buy one which is what I was doing untill I recieved the 420 and gotta say its defiantly an improvement and yes I would say to people now go and buy a festool 420 if you want a good jigsaw.   I have cordless model only never used a corded one.

The 420 is probably the best jigsaw i ever used, it works fine now compared to the 400.
